Taking Back Sunday headlining this year's Hellfest

How do you feel about THAT?!

Now, I've known Fred Mascherino (TBS guitar/vocals) since high school, and I love the guy dearly, but I'm a bit concerned about how his band will be received at an event that last year had attendees fleeing during the final band's (BL13) set! Of course, the complete line up hasn't been announced yet, and there are over 175 bands playing, so I guess it could make sense. Interesting. Can't wait to hear more.

If I fail math, there goes my chance at a good job and a happy life full of hard work.

I can't believe that that disaster of a festival is still around. One of the worst piece of crap shows we've ever played. 8 million hours in a fucking expensive rental van and when we pull up, the douchebag tells us we're not getting paid a dime and we can only play for 15 minutes. Apparently the constant presence of police officers saved that fuckbag from an ass kicking.

Thorp should get Ducky Boys on there so we can hang up our "Emo Sucks" shirts in the booth next to Taking Back Sunday.

yeah last few hellfests are basically metalcore emo losers anyway

just take a look at the papers
your leaders
they\'re killers
they\'re liars
what they do in your
name to make the bodies pile higher
the murders, the terror
they\'ve done it forever
as we sit band and smile
at the script they sell us
but now the victims, they\'re rising
their numbers\'s multiplying
they want their revenge for the years
that they\'ve been dying

I'm with Mr. Lind on this one. I plan on checking out of life with my heterosexual card intact. I also applaud the "Emo Sucks" shirts. I want to have "Tony B. Is A Cunt" shirts but I think I'll be outvoted by my more stable and reasonable bandmates.

Never let anybody talk you out of your dreams. You get that shirt and wear it in places where people might know what it means so we may all cheer you on.

I hate to go against the whole 'hellfest sucks' vibe, but I had a total blast there last year.

Sure, the actual fest itself was a bit gay ... queues too big, too much tightass security (they confiscated my camera ... i flew 12,000 miles to get a photo with Rick Healy and some faggot takes my camera, you cant imagine how pissed i was) and too many people there in general ... but there were some great bands and whoever organised it was nice enough to let Donnybrook jump on the bill at the last minute.

I met shiiitloads of great people ... Belgians, Canadians, English, Yanks and I even met some Aussie kids I'd never met back home.

I think thats what festivals are about, Diversity ... and by that I dont mean having an emo band headlining .. I mean just different cultures and styles all getting togeather to party and play dodgeball in the econolodge carpark at 4am and piss on dirty hookers.

Anyways. I've forgotten what my point is.

i think that' a reasonable assessment. i always thought the fests i went to in europe when i was a teenager were the shit. some of are are just too old and crabby to put up with ANY lines, camera confiscation, non-english speakers, OR dodgeball at 4am outside our hotel window! ;)

I forget what year we played that show but it was a disaster from an organizational standpoint and they shut the power on us for playing over our allotted 15 minutes. Not even gas money on that one if I remember correctly. I'm glad people in the crowd have fun at those things because playing festivals as a band can be a really nice or HORRIBLE experience (I don't really believe that 'really nice' thing I just wrote but I don't want to get shellaced for complaining about playing live again).

pretty much. then the crowd started to misbehave a little and they flipped the power back on. i have the video of that show somewhere. i should see how many songs we got to play. for the record, it's not that WE only got 15 minutes, it's that any band got 15 minutes. That's even short for a Bad Vibes set and promoters can do better. i still can't believe those fucking icepicks on your shoes at the integ gig in lancaster. i do remember telling middle aged krishna fuckbags that if they didn't leave the little kids alone i was gonna fucking kill them.

that was the same show that that kid martin from dc (that everyone thought was fidel castro's son) started choking some skinhead in the pit. that was the first time i had seen THAT move in action!

shows at the chameleon were always a little rough. i guess cause lancaster is out in pennsyltucky's heartland, and there were (are?) a lot of nazi skins in the area.
