There's the other DVD coming out soon, too w/ Takes of the Black Freighter and the Under the Mask (or is it Hood?) mockumentary. Plus the "ultimate"
dvd which will have the directors cut w/ addition footage and the version w/ Black Freighter cut in, which is supposed to be closer to 3.5 hours.

if anyone who isn't familiar with the comic is planning on seeing, keep in mind this isn't a fast paced action flick, it's a story with some action.
for those that are, they stay pretty true to the comic, from what i remember, but some stuffed was "condensed".
my gf thought it was going to be something completely different, but she liked it.

i think the R rating is mainly because of a couple of sex scenes and there's a blue penis visible in many scenes.
the violence is pretty close to what you'd see in X-Men or Dark Knight, but there's more blood.

It might be a little much for a 12 year old, there's a pretty rough attempted
rape scene and a few sex scenes of varying levels of explicitness. I would mostly be uncomfortable about kids seeing the rape though. There are some
fairly intense ideas expressed in it that would probably go right over the heads of a lot of kids, but might be difficult to deal with for the ones
who do catch on. It's an amazing movie and I'd recommend seeing it, but you might need to see it without junior first and make up your mind about it
for him.

My cousin went to see it and said it sucked dick, but he never got into the comic.

I just got back from Watchmen, finally, and thought it was awesome. Incredibly great visually, as well as being so true to the source material. The
only thing that threw me off a little bit, at times, was the music choices. I would've probably preferred more scoring and less soundtracking. Know
what I mean?

Yeah the music choices threw me off a few time too. Other than that excellent movie. And as much as I hate to say it I want to see the director's cut
of this.
