Dublin
Just booked a flight to spend 4 days in Dublin. 20GBP round trip, including taxes (and half of that was a surcharge for paying with a debit card).
The trip to the airport will cost more than the flight, and so will the hostel. Europe is fucking awesome!!!

when we lived in nyc in the 90s, we'd got r/t to london for $250.
we've seriously gone for the weekend.
biggest issue now is the kids.
leaving them with the grands for several days is doable, but asking a lot.

these are really cheap prices. new york -hamburg, a little bit more than 100 euros. i pay nearly the same if i take a train from essen to hamburg...
