Still, yeah... to me, swine... BLECH. Don't forget what swine is to Jews too. Also BLECH.

i haven't read about this in the news. however, this thread sounds like SARS all over again... serious, but not too serious, and everyone flips out over it. 68/1000 dead means 6.8% of cases are fatal. i have a hunch that e.coli is much more serious. and if obama wanted to wipe out all the poor brown-skinned non-americans in the hemisphere, i suspect there are more effective ways.

oops, e.coli is only 3-5% fatal. still pretty close considering jack in the box still has customers.

^^^^^^^^^^ When RANDOM is talking math I listen. Dude knows his math. "6.8%". RIGHT ON RANDOM. ;)

hahaha... thanks! here's another fun math lesson. turns out that e.coli has a lower "fatality rate" in the US, but it affects many more people than swine flu (1000 for swine flu vs about 20,000 for e.coli). given those rates, swine flu kills about 68 people per year... but e.coli kills 600-1000 per year. why isn't e.coli still the big media hype when it's the bigger threat?

Pig flu! Fucking laughed when I read this earlier in the week. The bird flu pandemic never happened. We stockpiled Tamiflu primarily & Relenza, everyone dosed up on Tamilfu, oh but now the modern flu is resistant to Tamilfu! We made a super flu from the pharmco proprganda about a pandemic.

So bird flu fails, Tamiflu is useless. What do they do? Governments are increasing their Relenza stockpile instead because we'll never get Relenza-resistant viruses! Tamiflu was a fluke... lol what a fucking scam.

The timing is perfect too, all spring & summer to hype up this new threat for the next flu season and off you go, everyone getting their Relenza, fearing an epidemic of pig flu. Way to stimulate the economy.

It's a fucking scam. One article I read said none of the recently effected people had any contact with pigs either. How the hell did they get pig flu?

A lot of people ask me what kind of music I like. I love "soul music". My "soul music" isn’t a style, genre or niche. It’s music that is genuine. It’s a painful lyric, a dirty bassline, it’s a harrowing vocal, it’s feedback, it’s an anthem, it’s a love song, it’s anarchy. I’ve got my personal favourites but in the end it doesn’t matter who or where it comes from... so long as it’s good and it's real.

The new strain contains gene sequences from North American and Eurasian swine flus, North American bird flu and North American human flu, said the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

this means it is a mutant strain, and usually the flu infects the very young, sick and old the most....

this strain is affecting average healthy people who as you say have no contact with swine...

the reason it is called swine is becasue it is similar to a virus found in swine....

but it can spread thru normal contamination, sneezing, coughing ect...

it was just in cali and texas (close to mexico) but is now in kansas and nyc...

and the number of reported cases is over 1300, with 81 confirmed dead

All schools will be closed in Mexico City, the surrounding area and the central state of San Luis Potosi until May 6, Cordova said.
that is fucking hardcore right there...

I work as a resident doctor in one of the biggest hospitals in Mexico City and sadly, the situation is far from "under control". As a doctor, I realise that the media does not report the truth. Authorities distributed vaccines among all the medical personnel with no results, because two of my partners who worked in this hospital (interns) were killed by this new virus in less than six days even though they were vaccinated as all of us were. The official number of deaths is 20, nevertheless, the true number of victims are more than 200. I understand that we must avoid to panic, but telling the truth it might be better now to prevent and avoid more deaths.

Donald Rumsfeld was one of the board members for the company that owns the patent for Tamiflu, and refused to relinquish his stock in the company when appointed sec. of defense.
