DRI Help
Because of Sippers's thread I have been looking into DRI. I never got into them. Acid Rain video was my only exposure.
do they have any sort of greatest hits album or anything close you all would recommend?
Thanks!

try the "dirty rotten" lp and "dealing with it" if you dig the fast stuff. both records are milestones in hardcore history. unbeatable.
if you want to try their metal days, try "4 of a kind" and "thrash zone". acid rain is on thrash zone, btw.
in my opinion you have to get all their records, every phase had it´s moment, but the first two mentioned are essential.

They put out a best of, but I don't think it's a good enough in terms of covering their career. The "Dirty Rotten LP" and "Dealing With It" are
essential. After those two, "Crossover" is my personal favorite.

Dealing With It is my favorite album of all time. This has never wavered.
My cousin bought an extra copy of this for me in 85 when I was a little dork listening to my dads Judas Priest albums...it blew my fucking mind. I
didn't anything about hardcore or punk or anything about any scenes....all I knew was this was the fastest, bestest most raw thing I ever heard. IMO
one of few perfect albums...front to back.
Dirty Rotten LP is good if you like raw fast hardcore but I can see how it would turn some people off because of the real raw factor.
Dealing With It is probably the first true crossover album...I think AF/CFA came out about a year later...but unlike CFA this wasn't nearly as
metal....it really just sounded like a punk/hc band with metal "bigness" or production. Those songs are still more hardcore than 90% of bands today.
Crossover is a comparable album but the songs started getting longer and slower....this was kind of thier bridge album into the later years.
Four of a Kind, Thrash Zone, Definition and the rest are all very very solid thrash metal albums with hardcore influence but theyre a shadow of the
earlier albums.

One of the first bands I ever got into while skating as a youngster. I got everything up too definition. My favorite is THRASHZONE and FOUR OF A KIND.
I prefer the more metal/thrash stuff they did to the more punk sound they had in the beginning, but I really dig that stuff too. The first record I
heard was the dirty rotten ep and I still get good feelings of the old days listening to it. Brings back some good memories. I just think they were
best with the sound they developed in the late 80's. It's simple and it rules. Pure and well......simple.
That being said i never heard FULL SPEED AHEAD but someone once said its like really really good DRI. The best mix of punk and metal they ever did. I
got to pick that up. It's hard to find DRI stuff. I kow they re-released there stuff, but that is still hard to get.

Beer City records re-released a few of the old albums.
Clevo- Check out Full Speed Ahead. It's got some really good tracks on it and I think it's better than Thrash Zone, Four of a Kind, and Definition.
