Watchmen - Directors Cut

Anyone seen this yet, the death of Hollis Mason scene they added was absolutely amazing. Worth rewatching again for that alone.

ITs long as hell but definitely better than the theatrical cut.

I liked the theatrical cut, but I think that's because I never read the comic and didn't know what it was all about. It's nice seeing a movie like that because you don't have any comparisons to think about. I'll check out the director's cut.

I like the book a lot, but the movie bored me. It was almost exactly the book, but it was slow moving for a movie and to long to me. I'll pass on any longer version.

Just watched the movie last weekend and it was good. I was a bit confused until half way through.

Yeah, I got the Director's Cut. I couldn't even remember the theatrical release except that Hollis' death wasn't shown. I seem to recall him being present at the very end of the theatrical release with Dan, Laurie and Sally though...

I bought my copy at Best Buy and got Tales From The Black Freighter for 5 bucks.

Yeah, I saw the fucking coupon in the DVD. No way I'll bother with that. I torrented the motion comic, bought the Director's Cut and Black Freighter... that's all I need.

What'd you think of the Under The Hood production with Black Freighter? Or did you get that?

Tales From The Black Freighter is a comic book this kid is reading throughout the entire graphic novel. You catch glimpses of him in the movie always next to the newstand. He's sitting there reading the comic the whole course of the book. Intermittently you get to read what he's reading and it is related in some way to the story going on in the novel/movie. They brought that to life by making it an animation piece. it's really good. I mean, really good as animated shorts go IMO. A gruesome tale, I might add.

Under The Hood is a sort of mock TV documentary/interview with Hollis Mason, the original Nite Owl, about his past and about his book... Under The Hood. You also get text from Under The Hood in the comic intermittently. Basically around the end of every chapter of the story.
