violence at shows
tonight i saw one of the most fucked up things i've seen at a show. i've seen dudes get hurt and i've seen fights but this was awful. here's the
story:
my friend christine and i were watching a band opening for slapshot, right? some dudes were there who we knew would be trouble, we just tried to avoid
them. when suddenly the guy standing about 6 inches in front of us gets sucker punched and drops to the ground. tons of his friends run over to try to
pick him up and they get him standing.. then he falls again. after about 5 minutes of laying on the floor he starts having multiple seizures for about
10 minutes. then i don't know what happened, an ambulance came and he went to the hospital.
so many kids were standing around making jokes. and these dudes who started the shit weren't kicked out. and they continued to do what they were doing
all night with no one saying anything. this shit really bums me out on hardcore. so bad.

clearly, the guy who got hit wasn't tough and the guys who hit him are cool.

in 1992 i saw bolt thrower play in either g willikers or city gardens, i forget which one, and a mob of skins beat this dude down , the aftermath was
him lying on the floor uncouncious bleeding out of his ears
that kinda shit used to always happen

ussually slapshot doesnt stand for that shit, did they say anything?
just take a look at the papers
your leaders
they\'re killers
they\'re liars
what they do in your
name to make the bodies pile higher
the murders, the terror
they\'ve done it forever
as we sit band and smile
at the script they sell us
but now the victims, they\'re rising
their numbers\'s multiplying
they want their revenge for the years
that they\'ve been dying

I was at that show at G Willikers. All I remember is...
1. skinheads were in the majority
2. being in the crowd, stuck in a sea of sieg heils
3. the bolt thrower roadie, who must have been 60 years old and seven feet tall, standing in the middle of the pit throwing baldies around by the
neck
4. the chick in bolt thrower bashin' some guy with her bass

violence always has been at shows and always will be at shows. i hear people talk about how they hate it when dudes settle beef at shows. i have no
problem with that at all. a lot of times, the only way you can really get to people is at shows.
i like fights at shows. they're fun to get into, to start, to watch. what really pisses me off is bands that whine about fights, bands that stop
playing and bitch about it. i got into a fight at a most precious blood show, and that dude started bitching about something gay and wouldn't hand me
the mic afterwards. gay.
and, as far as "bullies" are concerned, do something about it. take a fucking tire iron to one of those dudes. if you have friends, they'll be there
to watch your back. grab a stool from teh bar and smash the dude with it. if they have been causing shit all night and everyone's pissed about it, no
one is going to care, and if cops get called, "they swung first".

yep duane..thats the show
i was at another doozy around 95 or so
it was clutch / tad /and a few others at the middle east in philly
a slew of drunken nazi skins from jersey or somewhere showed up..there was this one knucklehead with the word MURDERER tattooed on his head...anyway
the security for the place was a bunch of big weightlifting black dudes...first the skins were taunting Tad, then Tad taunted them back mocking their
seig heils and so on...the last thing i remember is the bass player swinging his bass like a bat at the one guy, and then there was a huge rukus going
on, down the stairs, onto the sidewalk, show got shut down and from what i heard an interacial couple got beat down in their path on 2nd
street......and clutch never even played......ripoff

Fighting. All that shit is old. It gets no one anywhere. If someone fucks around with someone they should get beat. Problem is they are fucking with
someone who came to the show to kick it and watch a band and not to fight. Go fuck with someone else who is willing to fight. Thats a challenge.
Fighting some innocent fucker is nothing and it's weak.

In Houston there are never any figths at real hardcore shows, only when sick mosh bands OR "big" bands play then there is fight, mostly its started
by kids who think are tough because they listen to On Broken Wings or some fucking "grindcore" band.

I'm not really down with violence at shows, and definetly not down with it happening at ALL AGES shows ... I'd rather have some kickass fun scene
where everyoen can get loose without havign to worry about that shit. I live in a bad area, if I want to see a fight I'll go to the train station ...
I go to shows to have fun and get loose.
but if it happens, fuck ... what can ya do? Either break it up or join in. shit happens, i found if you just keep ur nose clean everything is just
peachy.

"what can ya do? Either break it up or join in. shit happens, i found if you just keep ur nose clean everything is just peachy."
yup..
or just watch. it aint my problem unless its getting in my way of having a good time.
alotta kids need a fuckin kick in the head though. seriously.
in alotta areas its become a so so-called posi loving eachother enviroment that nothing goes down and its shit talking online and mumbling such inane
things as "homo" to kids as they walk past you outside the show who you claim to not like and never gave a reason for it...
when there is a fight here though its usually some jock kid who comes outta no where off the street or its some metal fag, or a grindcore mathcore
emoscreamo what the fuck ever kid who thinks he knows what "scene" means and needs to prove it.
sad sad. sad.
there are no real hardcore shows here (*shows here with hardcore bands and no fights doesnt mean its real, or rather, my idea of whats real) because
to me all the majority of the "scene" here are 'posi' youth crew kids that do nothing but talk shit and contradict eachother constantly talkin behind
one anothers backs and all that
fuck its inane, (and anyone that feels that im talking shit on them and because of that im contradicting myself right now well wake up im speaking my
mind and bitching about kids who deserve it now reread the last few lines)
they hate on me too because I'm basically the only one here that listens to and reps the heavy shit and the thugcore, hiphop and even some posi youth
crew oldschool style shit ya know they cant handle that much variety in one person or are afraid ill expose them to themselves (oh, yeah)
fighting at shows - well id like to see more here honestly.
it needs a stir.
i think thats why when kids here started seeing some Crew action they got afraid and started talkin mad shit on the crew believing that its a threat
to their ways and it would tear them down, bring the bullshit to light or rather where it should be dealt with and not dreamly spoken or sung
your damn right its 'time for a change'
ps - bands that stop playing for a fight, well ill say that if i was in a band and playing, im not sure whether i would stop playing or not. it would
probably depend on what exactly was happening.
on that note:
how many band mambers here have stopped playing during a fight?
hell, give em some motivation music.
this is war music here ! hardcore
not politicaly aware love the world hate the establishment punk rock
its right here the problems we face amongst ourselves are those that we must become aware of and take care of/rectify - continue to do so for as long
as it takes even if it seems impossible
im tired time for bed.

As long as it doesn't affect whether the venue can put on shows or not, let them kick each other's teeth in.

I guess it was like 2 years ago Freddy Madball dropped the sound guy at the troc cause the mic wasn't working on their opening song. I though it was
quite funny. He apologized to him though...Then when skarhead beat up a couple manson kids cause they spit up at them that was hilarious. I remember
seeing a few good ones back in like 95-98 but I don't go to to many shows anymore so....

Misfits, SOIA, H20 in Cleveland a few years back, plenty of SHARPs in the crowd, they kicked some punk's teeth in, he was in the bathroom with his
front teeth mangled and pushed up into his gums. Pretty nasty.
Speaking of nasty, check out this sweet All Out War jersey for sale:
