Billy Corgan to reform Smashing Pumpkins? Do you care?

Today is a special day in my life as it marks the release of my very first solo album The Future Embrace. For over 17 years I have been proud to
represent Chicago as an artist through my words and music, and am continually humbled by the undying love that I have been shown from this city as one
of its native sons. I'd like to take this moment to address all that is going on in my musical life, from the new album and the current tour, to the
future of The Smashing Pumpkins.
I had the opportunity to record The Future Embrace CD here in Chicago, and its embers bear witness to this town's unique soul. I have done my very
best to create something fresh and exciting to listen to, and I hope you get the chance to check it out. Having just returned from a tour of Europe, I
am now set to play 18 additional dates in North America, beginning tomorrow in Atlanta. After that we head to Japan, and then Australia and New
Zealand for the first time since 1998.
The Future Embrace is an album of hope, and represents fully my desire to make music to stand and to fight for. Encouraged by the musical progress of
the record, I have already begun writing new songs for a subsequent solo album I hope to start by the end of this year. Plans are still in the works
to finish my 'ChicagoSongs' DVD, a group of songs about the city. I'm also in the process of writing my life story on-line, updated almost daily and
not so ironically entitled 'The Confessions of Billy Corgan.' It truly has been a creative time for me, with many new revelations.
Many have assumed that the decisions that I have made over the last few years have been to try to get away from something. But what I have been really
trying to do is find that same kid again, the one who believed he could change the world with a song. There is an old saying that goes "you can't go
home again," but I believe that your home is wherever your heart lies.
When I played the final Smashing Pumpkins show on the night of December 2, 2000, I walked off the Metro stage believing that I was forever leaving a
piece of my life behind. I naively tried to start a new band, but found that my heart wasn't in it. I moved away to pursue a love that I once had but
got lost. So I moved back home to heal what was broken in me, and to my surprise I found what I was looking for. I found that my heart is in Chicago,
and that my heart is in The Smashing Pumpkins.
For a year now I have walked around with a secret, a secret I chose to keep. But now I want you to be among the first to know that I have made plans
to renew and revive The Smashing Pumpkins. I want my band back, and my songs, and my dreams. In this desire I feel I have come home again.
The Future Embrace represents a new beginning, not an ending. It picks up the thread of the as-yet-unfinished work and charter of The Smashing
Pumpkins. I know this city gave me the gift of my music, and it is my honor to share this love that I have with you from the bottom of my heart. There
is still so much work to do, and as always, so little time!

Ive been listening to Siamese Dream quite a bit lately. Im sure they'll never top that, so... I dunno. Im not sure I want them back. After Weezer
broke up I wished that they would get back together, but since they reformed they've pretty much just put out garbage. I can see the same thing
happening with the Smashing Pumpkins.

Oh MrBad...I hate to do this in public, but I have to disagree. I like the 2 Pumpkin albums that noone else seemed to like, Machines of God and the
last one. Sometimes his voice is the sonic equivalent of a razorblade to the eye and he does seem like a major tool, but if given the choice between
listening to Pumpkins or the current crop of hardcore/metal/alternative bands, I'd pick that douchebag every time. By the way, hello, how are things?

I must add that SIAMES DREAMS is a great record. I have also jammed out gish a few times as well. THey go rock but I have no idea what they have done
since the mid nineties. I have hear a couple songs but nothing that impressed me.

one day, in march of 1998, i came home from work, popped in mellanchollie, and went to check the messages on my answering machine. the first one was
my best friend's dad calling to tell me that his only child had OD'ed, and that his funeral would be in a few days back in philly. that album doesn't
get played very often anymore, but when it does, i still can't get through those first two tracks (Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness and Tonigh,
Tonight) with a dry eye.

The second cd on Mellon Collie was the "my crush doesnt like me" soundtrack back in high school. Definately not as deep an emotion as what you feel
when you hear it, Duane, but it does take me back.
What a shitty message to leave on someone's answering machine though. I'd leave a message like "Please call me as soon as you get this. There's
something I need to tell you." Harsh.

I actually saw Smashing Pumpkins on the tour for that record... after the drummer was kicked out of the band for helping their keyboard player
overdose. Cool show. It was actually the first time I had ever seen one of my friend's drunk.

I saw them in 1993 at the CLEVLEAND AGORA and they opened with this song from SIAMES DREAMS called ??? I forgot the title but the song goes like real
mello with real mello guitar and then gets heavy I think it';s called SOMA or something. Anyway that song is musically tugs at me a bit. When they
played live they had a huge real heartbeating on a projection screen that covered the whoel stage and band. Very red and orange colors. Anyway good
song.

yeah, i thought dude's old man was callin to tell me the guy was gonna be in town or something (he lived in FLA when he died), so i was all stoked
when i heard his voice on the machine. then BAM! dead! still sucks.
anyway, i only saw smashing pumpkins once - at lollapalooza in philly about 10 years ago. we were on our way out cause no body was that into them,
but they came on stage and played SO FUCKIN' HEAVY, we turned around and went right back in. I was really surprised, he musta been pissed. sounded
almost like HR.

Corgan is a fuckin nut case along the same lines as Michael Jackson. The dude threw a fuckinh hissy fit because boy bands & pop were huge so he was
losing money & quit. Now rock is big again & he wants to cash in where he left off. His solo shit all sucked ass & SP was never that impressive.
The band woulda been way better if they had a different front man I think. Fuck em.
A lot of people ask me what kind of music I like. I love "soul music". My "soul music" isn’t a style, genre or niche. It’s music that is genuine. It’s
a painful lyric, a dirty bassline, it’s a harrowing vocal, it’s feedback, it’s an anthem, it’s a love song, it’s anarchy. I’ve got my personal
favourites but in the end it doesn’t matter who or where it comes from... so long as it’s good and it's real.

the funnies thing i saw like that was gibby haynes from the butthole surfers yelling at all the stone temple pilots fans as they were leaving the mann
music center (stp was the opener)..he was screaming something like "you fuckin idiots are walking out on the jimi hendrix of the 90s!
