avatar in 3D
is fucking amazing. not sure if i missed a thread about it, but... well, if so, here's a new one.
the plot takes a while to get interesting, and the first hour or so is pretty generic goofy action film stuff with a shitty script. it picks up and
gets pretty interesting. to be honest, i'm a bit surprised hollywood let the movie be made.
worth seeing in the theater, and drop the cash for the 3D version. seeing it in 2D is probably a big disappointment.

I'm interested, for sure. Probably be one of those I go to alone. My wife's not interested and I'm not taking my 3 year old.

I am just not a fan of movies that are soo heavily computer effects driven. District 9 is as effects heavy as I like because it appears pretty
seamless. This is just too obviously "fake" for me.

Sherlock holmes was filmed in my home town (manchester england) looks good!
As for avatar i'd rather eat my own face off than watch it.
Living a life kept shut by a dream,
I'm reaching out to grasp my reality.
Hands of time wrap tight around my neck, and hit me so hard,
leaving me eyes black.
staring at a ceiling,
wondering why i never left,
penning words in a notebook,
wondering why haven't slept.
sanity is tapping in a cell
inside my fucking head.
begging for redemption
after hearing what was said.
the nights, they will not sleep
cause the days, have played for keeps.

Its the first 3D movie I've ever seen, so thats what won me over.
Sherlock Homes sounds like its gonna be a bomb....from what I've read about it they turned him into some kinda kung fu master. Iron Man minus the
suit in old timey world.

No, seriously every time an ad comes on TV for this it makes me hate it more and more, i have no interest in ever seeing it, it just looks like some
sort of futuristic, adultised Fern Gully or some shit!
I know Matty also shares the mutual hatred i do at the sheer thought of this movie.
I can see why it would appeal to people but for me, no.

The thing is, i like Fern Gully (im young, im allowed to!haha) and I actually really used to enjoy playing Halo too, the combo of them really does not
appeal to me though!

I was actually really against it, but ended up going just to hang out with some friends. I think James Cameron hasn't made a decent movie since the
first and second Alien movies. Actually, I think those are the ONLY movies of his worth seeing...until now. Granted, the environmental ideology in
Avatar is about as subtle as a bat to the head and the two main bad guys are written as ridiculous cartoon characters, but the movie over all is
really impressive. The 3-D is used amazingly well, you feel immersed in the story and there really isn't any of the "whoa, shit is flying at my face"
stuff going on. There IS a little bit of that cadillac liberal mentality that says the indigenous people need the big white man to save them from the
rest of the evil white folk.

got tickets for the imax 3d tonight...
that should be insane
my son and I have seen a lot of 3d movies this year, monsters vs aliens, ect, and imax transfromers
but this should be some next level stuff
for a 6 year old the story should be kind of simple
but this film is really more about the technology used to make it and the visuals...
sorry we live in a tech world now, and yeah a good story is getting harder and harder to find,
but this is the world we created and now have to deal with
give me some flashing lights and some eye candy every so often
and I liked fern guly as well
so fuck it
and being broke on xmas is no fun for anyone so doing something with him he wants to do is even better than buying some more useless crap

See, everyone seems to get hung up on that... but Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote Holmes as a master of a Japanese martial art. The man was always
proficient in fisticuffs.

just got back...
get over yourselves and have some fun...
not the most original story ever, but there are original aspects...
and it's visually stunning
needs to be experienced on the big screen in imax if you can...
no home theather is going to match feeling the battles right in your face.

I'm not falling over myself to see this but definitely will once things wind down around the holidays.
I never understood people getting wound up over 3D/CGI etc in a movie...it's a movie (PS. the stuff happening when there is no CGI is fake also)...you
guys do know you're allowed to have fun for a couple minutes in your life right? You've never watched Clash of the Titans or Star Wars with that
shitty stop animation stuff? Or did we all have a political boycott on that too?
