New Scorsese flick...

Based on a book by the author of the moment it seems...Dennis Lehane.

Shutter Island-more or less a psychological type thriller about two 1957ish Marshalls searching for an escaped female convict on a prison island/looney bin.

Not may favorite book of his, but it seems out of character for Scorsese, so it might be interesting.

Of course, it stars Deniro II...Leonardo.

It's almost a M Night Shamyalamalalamanalyan type story, it doesn't seem like a story requiring the gravity of Scorsese. , thats why I'm interested. Ways off though i think its '09.

I think I might have heard of this but something tells me it was coming out sooner. Maybe he has another movie coming out then.

Did anyone go see this? I read the book last month (first time I have read a book before seeing the movie) and I thouhgt it was great. A little predictable but still a cool execution.

I saw it Friday, it was really good but I think reading the book first may have harmed my appreciation of it. The predictable-ness seemed more predictable...I'm sure in part due to the book.

I also think it's one of those movies you appreciate more on a second viewing.

I'm gonna have to get my wife out to see this one. I love that old 30s-40s-50s kind of style. Plus, it looks interesting and I've heard good things. She's just not too into the creepy images in the trailers.

is this a fucking horror movie?
the plot is intriguing, and i love a good thriller, but i don;t do horror movies.

Shouldn't be a horror movie at all. I think the trailer is giving people the wrong idea.

Looking forward to seeing this. I never liked DiCaprio but after the Departed and Gangs of NY I can start to appreciate him. The media outlets gave this a shitty review but I trust the words of you gents over the douchebags that review films.

I'm a big fan of DiCaprio and Matt Damon. Might make me sound teh gey, but they both choose some amazing roles, even if they are perceived as pretty boys. I'm looking forward to this movie, and it's one of the few times I expect a movie to meet my expectations.

Gangs of New York, The Departed, the Bourne films... they're both great actors (and I'm ignoring lots of films with better acting but that I like less). Shutter Island should be great.
