Beer peeps...

Dinner at Ron's tonight.
This place has a great and always changing beer selection.
Anything on the menu you'd recommend?

If you're talking dessert beers, this makes Youngs seem like Tecate. Southern Tier Creme Brulee...this literally is dessert in a glass with alcohol...everyone should try this once in their life. Even if you dont like beer...and I believe it clocks in around 9-10%ABV.

and this....
DOG DAYS OF WINTER!
7 Different Dogfish Head Beers throughout February!

I'd be trying one of each lol...odds are 4 of 7 would be too fucking wierd to enjoy but they'd be worth a try.

Other than that, nothing really jumps out but there's a shit ton of great beer there...you'd be hard pressed to find a bad one.

Any chance any of you in Penn. would want to swap beers? I would like to get my hands on the Yuengling Porter. I will swap some local Great Lakes that you may never have had.

just got home. picked up a growler of the Iron Hill Highland Flame 60-Shilling Scotch Ale. This is my standard, go to at Iron Hill.

Iron Hill Highland Flame 60-Shilling Scotch Ale
OG: 1.046 Color: 16 IBU: 10 Alc by Vol: 4.9%
A richly flavored, low gravity ale. This Scotch ale has an assertive malty sweetness with just a touch of smoke in the flavor.

as for ron's...
i've had the youngs a couple times recently, it is very good.

The Chimay was good, but pretty much what i expected.

The Old Ruffian, like i said, was heavy, hearty and strong. Again, what you'd expect from a barley wine.

The Golden Doom was my favorite of them. Light, but with distinct spice flavors.

Chimay The beer's flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. http://www.chimay.com/en/chimay_triple_219.php

Great Divide Old Ruffianis a hefty, hop-forward Barley Wine- Style Ale. Seemingly mellow at the start with subtle fruit aromas and complex caramel sweetness, it quickly becomes aggressive with its bold hop flavors and huge hop bitterness. Ultimately, the big body, succulent sweetness and massive hop character come together to work wonders on your palate. 10.2% ABV.

GOLDEN DOOM
Golden Doom is a sweet stroll down the primrose path to the gates of inferno. First developed for our "Strong Beer Month" celebration in February of 2004, this Belgian-style golden ale is deceivingly strong, spicy and delicious. We use imported pilsner malt for a crisp finish, Saaz hops for a spicy nose, special Belgian yeast, and then we finish it with grains of paradise for a trip through purgatory to an ending in heaven

is it only certain beers in the states that have the percentage on the bottle?

last time i was over every single can or bottle of brew i drank had no sign of the percentage.

does miller lite actually have any alcohol in it at all?
i am genuinely curious as it was like drinking shandy!

Usually only craft brews have %, and even some of those don't. Generally the Bug/Coors/Miller stuff doesn't because people drink it for its price and because ad campaigns tell you it's good...they all clock in between 3.5 to 4.5 iirc.

i getcha.
at first we thought miller lite was just a non-alcoholic beer cos of the lack of percentage (that and everyone driving seemed to be drinking it!) but then we started to notice on everything we drank.

you guys familiar with Brewdog?
http://www.brewdog.com/
some of my mates here in London are going nuts about this stuff at the moment.
they had a 41% IPA the other day.
you can even design your own label! http://www.punkdog.com/label-designer

they seem to court a lot of controversy over here, what with the UK generally having a pretty bad alcohol problem.
