beer swap / beer drinking

I hate my job.
I despise most of my coworkers.
I would love to punch most of their lights out.
however,
I have a beer swap with some of them every so often.
we did one on thursday.
the theme was summer, which isn't really my cup of tea, but I managed to grab a few good ones.
They need to ban any and all products by the Budweiser / Busch family though.
Some of these rednecks see a cute bottle and think it's gonna be good.
here's the haul:
Flying Fish Farmhouse Summer ale
Troeg's Sunshine Pils
Wachusett Summer
Anderson Valley Summer Solstice Cerzeza Crema
Flying Dog Woody Creek White Belgian
Michelob Beach Bum
Lancaster Brewing Co Strawberry Wheat
Victory Hop Devil
Tucher Kristal Weizen
Dundee Summer Wheat
Saranac Summer Brew
Weybacher Verbotten!
Michelob Hop Hound Amber Wheat
Long Trail Double Bag
Victory Whirlwind
Harpoon Summer

I had an excellent stout the other nigth at a local pizza pub by Long Trail. It was their signature series Coffee Stout. Delicious.
Then Went for a Troegs Flying Mouflan in a bomber.

last night i hit a bar nearby that is inder new management, and has a selection of drafts and bottles that I have never seen in the burbs.
Lagunita's kicked my ass.

Life is good.

Yikes...aside from a couple of those that sounds like a lot of unbearable blondes and summer ales. That stuff would all immediately graduate to the drawer in my fridge dedicated to beers only suitable for sausage boiling.

I dread "summer" beer season and all the fruity flavorless "crisp" beers.

At least it seems like your co-workers mostly made an effort though...mine would probably only bring BCM beers period.

some interesting sounds stuff in there.

we should set up a Thorp beer swap, get a few of us together, and send everyone two bottles of beer. Get all these random packages with two beers in them from all over the place....

I'd be game for that would be expensive as hell though to be shipping to multiple people...depending on how many people were in. Maybe like a secret santa type deal where we draw names would be better.

Maybe if we figure out how many people are involved, we each list out three favorite beer styles and then draw names. Whomever's name you get you then get something local to your area/region and send them to the name you pulled. Maybe your pick of their three styles and one of your local favorites.

We can limit it to regular bottles to eliminate buying bombers and pricier items.

Could be fun.

Apparantly it's illegal to do it through USPS but you can use FedEx or UPS...though that doesn't mean people havent done it via the USPS before. The trick is either not declaring whats in the package or calling it collectible glassware.

Most people put a note in something along the lines of the bottles themselves being collectible breweriana and exceed the value of the liquor to cover themselves.

Other than that just wrap it in a bunch of bubble wrap and newspaper...ziploc storage bags etc and keep your fingers crossed.
