Video Hook up For HDTV? (Black and White Picture)
Looking for some advice. Just bought a new Philips 46 inch HDTV. I don't get HD service I just have Direct tv and a DVD player. I only have the
Yellow, Red and White cords.
When I try to hook up one of the inputs (Direct tv or DVD) in their own component slots, one appears in color and the other in Black and White. Any
idea on how I can get them both in color?
I have looked this up on the internet and read about composite vs. component video. My Direct TV and DVD only have the Yellow, Red and White options
vs. Red, Green, Blue.
Thanks as always.

Does your DVD player have an HDMI cable slot? If so,that's the way to go. You can just do away with the the other cables and use 1 HDMI cable for
sound and picture. You should also be able to use one on your Direct TV as well.

Thanks Spoiler. I thought I could use the HDMI on my Direct tv plus DVR but there's no slot for it. DVD doesn't either.
Seriously, thank you for taking time for this

I'm good to go. I hooked it up via a coaxle cable and then used the composite connection. DVD and DVR are now in full force.

Lemme get this straight...
You have a HDTV, but no HD sources...
And you're connecting them all with with composite video?
We need to talk.
If I fail math, there goes my chance at a good job and a happy life full of hard work.

Chris... you need to get Blu-Ray. Seriously.
Anyone got suggestions for sound solutions? I'm looking into sound bars, don't want to spend too much, but go no clue about what I"m doing. Here's
what I'm looking out right now http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Memorex+-+Factory-Refurbished+16...

I know Dude. While I have experienced HD many times, I LOVE to watch hockey in HD but I'm not willing to fork over the dough for HD programming just
yet.

I know man but for some reason I'm just not willing to take that leap. Just doesn't mean enough to me.
