Illegal Pete’s launches “Starving Artists Program”

Denver, CO – Illegal Pete’s restaurants are trying to make the road a little more enjoyable for touring bands with the launch of it’s “Starving Artists” program. The program offers free food to bands on tour in hopes that the bands tell their friend’s and fans worldwide about their experiences at Illegal Pete’s.

The restaurant, which has four locations in the Denver Metro Area and two in Boulder, launched the program as a way to get like minded people into their restaurants and create a community atmosphere for musicians and fans alike.

Spearheading the program is Virgil Dickerson, CEO of Suburban Home Records, and Andy Thomas, a local musician and music journalist.

“Both Virgil and I have toured with bands over the years and we realize how tying it can be sometimes,” Thomas said of the program. “We just want to help out those bands on tour by giving them a good meal, a place to hang out and, if they feel like it, a place to party afterwards.”

People interested in Illegel Pete’s Starving Arists Program are being urged to contact either Virgil or Andy by email at music@illegalpetes.com. If you know of a band coming through Denver, make sure they get in touch.

If I fail math, there goes my chance at a good job and a happy life full of hard work.

That is pretty awesome! I visited friends in Denver a few (and by that I mean like 7 or 8) years back and the first night I was there they took me to Illegal Petes. I remember the food being really good, and remember punching a dude in the face there and taking his sunglasses. There is more to the story, but thats really the best part.

But yeah, more places should do this sort of thing, but I think the system would wind up scammed.

Come on down to the FSU Eatery, where for a small "donation" you can get an endless supply of knuckle sandwiches.

Cool idea though.
