BKT, you never saw the movie, This Is England? They just did a four-episode miniseries follow up this past year (This Is England 1986) and are now
doing another one based on the same characters in 1990.

BKT, I can't believe you've been coming to the Thorp Board for six years and still haven't seen that movie. Rectify that shit asap, brother!
Personally, I liked the movie better than the first miniseries. I mean, the story was told well, but was just so much darker.
I'm with BKT. I have it in my Netflix queue. I feel shame ;-)
Love the movie, haven't watched the first series yet. I'm a little disturbed by the idea of this new series centering on rave shit as that article
implies.
i loved the film.
hated the series.
haven't got much hope for this one but will probably watch it anyway.
oh, and watch Red Riding.
probably the best piece of uk drama to come out in the last twenty years or so.
I'm currently reading the Red Riding Quartet which the films are based on and it's the most compelling, depressing and brutally brilliant thing i've
read for a long, long time.
I got the mini series somewhere, need to grab the movie. Haven't seen any of it.
Someone should make a This is Victory Hardcore featuring the labels finest days in the 90's lol
A lot of people ask me what kind of music I like. I love "soul music". My "soul music" isn’t a style, genre or niche. It’s music that is genuine. It’s
a painful lyric, a dirty bassline, it’s a harrowing vocal, it’s feedback, it’s an anthem, it’s a love song, it’s anarchy. I’ve got my personal
favourites but in the end it doesn’t matter who or where it comes from... so long as it’s good and it's real.

Saint, that was my initial reaction as well. But I guess ultimately, this is meant to be a story about the lives of the characters, not just skins.
(Technically, it's meant to follow the life of shane meadows.) Which is unfortunate, because mod woody was no where near as fun as skinhead woody!

from all the hooligan books i have read, this is the way that english "subculture" went for people of that age....skinhead, suedehead, into the
manchester brit pop thing, into the rave deal....wasnt so much about the music as the clubs and atmosphere....almost every book i have read follows
pretty much the same thing....many of the older hooligans, as they got out of that shit, got into working doors at these type of clubs....their
friends would work with them and go hang out....ect...
so, it seems that meadows is following that sort of deal and it seems to go along with the way it was....at least from what i have read

while it is not related to this series, I think all of you should check out a film called Rise of the Foot Soldier as well as the Cass movie....
Both are great.
