Might be a little more behind that. I have no idea though.

Here is the deal. The police dept. here has to approve and know about all other jobs that an officer has. They want to make sure it does not clash
with that persons dedication to the force and they want to make sure that person can always do their police job to the best of their potential. I
would imagine what their concern is, they can't have you getting injured at one job and not being able to do your police job and we all know that
injury in MMA is more or less inevitable. He was not dumped by the police force, he was simply asked to make a choice between policeman or MMA.
I know Sean and my company has worked with him in the past, he is a great dude and a dedicated fighter, only time will tell what he chooses to do, but
either way we wish him all the best.

i got the impression that was mostly a shock value headline. i mean, the department's position is completely reasonable.
given his recent success (and the likely shorter career span), it makes sense to stick with the mma for now, then rejoin the force down the line.

I agree with you. Why not take the MMA spotlight and the money while you can and fall back on your other job when all that is done. He also has a
limited amount of time as he is 34 years old already.

I'm guessing the main thing is the controversial nature of MMA in much of Canada. There have been a lot of stumbling blocks in getting it legalized.
At 34, I think it's a tough choice. Guys in MMA, even the UFC, generally don't get paid a ton by the promoter. Even if you look at the base salary
(often disclosed by athletic commissions), you have to take out taxes and manager/trainer fees before the fighter even sees a dime. Sponsors can help
a great deal, but that's also contingent on getting air time for the sponsor, meaning you need to get on the televised portion of the card.
I have some notion in my head that professions like military and police offer a full pension after 20 years on the job. For a guy signing up at 18,
that's awesome, since you get a ton of freedom at 38. For a guy who starts at 34, you can't even think of getting a pension until 54, which seems
rough in these kind of jobs... the idea of morning PT at 54 sounds super shitty to me.
Hope he finds a way of reaching a decision that he's happy with. Shitty situation, but I can see the PD's argument.

From what I've read one of the initial reasons he's under investigation before being brought in was his former nickname "pimpdaddy". Although the
nickname is weak I don't think it's reason enough to have him booted the day he starts. Generally cops in Canada seem to be pretty reserved and what
not. So I can see their point..just seems like a weak reason to me.

I think it is community relations thing. They won't want some dude with MMA stigma to be handing domestic issues. In other words they will think he
will go about his business just beating the public up and shit. For instance, if her were on a traffic stop and the driver got a little shitty with
him, would he beat his ass just because?
Again, with is only speculation but they interview the fuck out of you and do extensive background and CVSA/ lie detector investigations. It could be
anything that helped them come to a conclusion.

Iowa is a whole different ball park than Toronto though. What's Tim doing? Sherrif's department work?
