Knockaround Guys
City of God
Ichi The Killer
The Departed
Carlito's Way
Heat

A lot of people ask me what kind of music I like. I love "soul music". My "soul music" isn’t a style, genre or niche. It’s music that is genuine. It’s a painful lyric, a dirty bassline, it’s a harrowing vocal, it’s feedback, it’s an anthem, it’s a love song, it’s anarchy. I’ve got my personal favourites but in the end it doesn’t matter who or where it comes from... so long as it’s good and it's real.

check out

Gomorrah - seriously depressing and from all accounts an extremely accurate portrayal of modern mafia in southern Italy.

Eastern Promises is pretty awesome too and deals with the Russian mafia in London.

for a more 'traditional' Godfather style film check out
The Professor (1986) with Ben Gazzarra.

Besides the other great movies named...

State of Grace

Donnie Brasco

Once Upon a Time in America

King of New York

Bronx Tale

Mean Streets

Millers Crossing

Godfather III is a great movie. Yes, it's not as good as the first two...what the hell could be. Anyone that thinks its a"bad" movie you must have only watched 3 movies your whole life GF I, GF II and GF III.

Brotherhood, the Showtimes show was great and Sopranos is the uncontested greatest show ever on television.

The Friends of Eddie Coyle.

It's dated, but if you liked The Town, it's a great look at Boston in the early 70's. Also Monument Ave. and Southie.

I was gonna say Boondock Saints too but didn't think it fit the typical mob/mafia genre.

All fantastic, especially Once Upon a Time in America.
