I call BULLSHIT on Billy Corgan
Says the new bassist is one of the kids on the cover of Siamese Dreams record.
http://new.music.yahoo.com/blogs/amplifier/88516/siamese-dre...
Billy Corgan has revealed a really weird coincidence: the latest female bassist to join Smashing Pumpkins may have a history with the band -- she says
she was one of the two young girls featured on the cover of the group's 1993 album "Siamese Dream." Nicole Fiorentino evidently just broke the news to
the singer/guitarist, and he tweeted it to fans last night. "She said she didn't want us to know because she thought maybe we wouldn't let her be in
the band," he wrote.
This revelation is especially curious since in 2007 Corgan was actively looking for the pair of kids who played Siamese twins on the cover: "In a bit
of a fun story, The Smashing Pumpkins are looking for the young girls that adorned the album cover of their record, SIAMESE DREAM. They have most
definitely aged to their teens at this point, and are no longer conjoined. If anyone has any information on how to find the girls, please email
web@smashingpumpkins.com." Corgan even sought info on the duo on a fan message board.
So did Billy's '07 search really turn up nil, was he hoarding the info for just the right moment, or is this a fun long weekend publicity stunt? We'll
have to vote for option C. If Fiorentino was one of the girls in the photo, it had to have been a pretty vintage shot -- since she's 31 years old now
(she turns 32 in April), she was 14 when "Dream" was released in July '93. Check out the photos and judge for yourself!
Update: Because so many readers appear to be confused, we'll point out that the girls on the cover weren't really conjoined twins -- a shot on the
album's back cover shows them separated, standing next to each other. Melodie McDaniel is credited as the album's photographer in its liner notes, and
one of her assistants tells Rolling Stone he's fairly certain the photograph was shot specifically for the cover. McDaniel earned her photography
degree in 1992, so it's not likely she took this photo seven years prior to that, when Fiorentino would have been around seven years old.

I can happily say I don't think I've ever heard a song of their's. Given that my taste in music seems to be fairly in line with a lot of the people on
here, I can't imagine I wouldn't enjoy them at all.

haha just been listening to Siamese Dream on the way to work today
that girl's story definitely doesn't add up though.
i am 33 and i remember that record coming out and back then i looked a damn sight older than the kids on that album cover.
They looked about 8 years old or something.
I didn't realise they were even still going.
I lost interest in them after Siamese Dream.

boring. I don't know....there's still a lot of the songs on the double album I think are pretty good myself

although with the exception of the Siamese Dream cassette, & a VHS tape, I believe I pawned all the other albums for beer or weed money as a teen
after I got disinterested in the band

yep, i was into a lot of 'grunge' stuff.
in fact i credit grunge with getting me into punk and hardcore as it really opened my eyes to music that wasn't part of the mainstream.
although having a good friend who'd been into it for a long time before was a big help as when i did get into punk he already had a bunch of stuff to
lend me.

I liked GISH, LULL, and SIAMESE DREAMS. Lost interest after that too. That being said I can't listen to em anymore. Corgan has ruined them by his
bitch-face whining. I can't stand hearing him.

i totally forgot about Lull.
I don't think I ever got round to picking that up. Might try and grab it tonight.
I was reading all about the total melodramatic clusterfuck that surrounded the recording of Siamese Dream. I remember being aware of it at the time
but didn't realise quite how epic it was in terms of bath dramas and the work that went into that album. Crazy.
Corgan always seemed like a bit of a prima donna but one thing that surprised me recently was whe i was reading the autobiography of Antony Kiedis
(pretty sure i mentioned this on here) and he mentioned that Corgan was incredibly tall and really great at basketball.

I read all about the SIAMESE DREAMS issues back in the day. It must have sucked to work with him in that band. Although SIAMESE DREAMS is awesome. I
saw em live for that tour and man that show was moving. SWERVEDRIVER opened.
When SP came out it was quiet everything was red and a huge heartbeat was all over the stage. Then a wall of sound. Fucking amazing even though I
can't listen to them anymore. Very good songs though.
Supposedly in late 80's he had a DEATHMETAL band and lived in Florida during that time. That was just before SP.
