Hank III - Hillbilly Joker
I wasnt sure if I was gonna get this right away or not, but I read a review and I picked it up yesterday. As much as I love the more aggressive Hank
Honky-Tonk stuff and the punk/hardcore/metal stuff this is a weird mix for me.
Its kind of a little to aggressive to be one of his 'country' records, but has to much honky-tonk to be a punk record. I've only listened to it once,
but I'm not sure if I like it.

I've never been a fan of his AssJack material....but I kinda dig this style.
This album was actually recorded over 11 years ago. Originally titled "This ain't country". Download it free here.

Hank III - Hillbilly Joker (2011)
On January 1st, Hank Williams III was officially done with his long, contentious 14 year relationship with Nashville major label Curb Records, but
when he left, he left with unfinished business. Sitting on a shelf somewhere inside the Curb Records complex was an album called This Ain’t Country
that Hank III had turned into them for release. The ensuing legal battle over the release of the album is where the cold war between Curb and Hank III
became hot. Curb sat on the album, never releasing it, and refusing to allow Hank III to release it independently or on another label. Now Curb has
decided to release it many years later, as well as possibly other shelved recordings as a title called Hillbilly Joker.
Here’s the best part:
Hank III is saying “Don’t buy it, but get it some other way and burn the hell out of it and give it to everyone.”

shit... I wish I would have read that before I bought it! The cover art and the artwork inside is really cool at least.

I have the self-bootlegged live versions he released of a lot of these songs on my computer....thanks for the link though, I'll have to download this.
I've been wanting to hear this for a few months, interested to see if Curb went behind his back & overproduced it the way they wanted it to sound
like they did with the Assjack album. I really like buying actual albums, but I don't wanna give Curb any money
record collectors are pretentious assholes

Personally I liked the album. I don't think it will get as much play as his other albums for me but I enjoy it regardless. Hate to give my money to
curb records but I really wouldn't mind picking this up on vinyl.

Like I said before. These songs were recorded over 11 years ago.Nobody was playing anything like this at the time... and maybe not even now. These songs
really made his live shows stand out back in the late 90's early 2000's....because no one had heard anything like it. I'll take his country albums
over any of this stuff any day of the week though.
