Louis CK: Live at the Beacon Theater

http://www.louisck.com

His new stand up special is available only through his website, and it's only 5 bucks. High and standard definition.

This is going to cheer me up after my car/Dark Knight fiasco.

torrentfreak.com wrote a good little piece about this.

I love the "What's this?" link on the page hahaha.

A lot of people ask me what kind of music I like. I love "soul music". My "soul music" isn’t a style, genre or niche. It’s music that is genuine. It’s a painful lyric, a dirty bassline, it’s a harrowing vocal, it’s feedback, it’s an anthem, it’s a love song, it’s anarchy. I’ve got my personal favourites but in the end it doesn’t matter who or where it comes from... so long as it’s good and it's real.

Going to grab this soon. Wish he came through here more often...for a while every 4-6 months you could see CK or Bill Burr...now I'm resorting to going to see Norm MacDonald.

louis cleared 200k in four days. not bad! though the article makes a few good points why this doesn't mean the end of the stars quo for everyone.

Problem is he's not the first to do it, nor the first to be successful at it.

Also when Hobo With A Shotgun leaked people were begging the creator to setup a PayPal donation link on his site they could could give him money but they refused. They could have made a mint from donations given the massive popularity that movie made.

Any claims that online distribution is bad is just bullshit from the media companies, the same ones pushing (and writing) SOPA and PROTECT IP which threaten to strangle the Internet.

People go out of their way to support stuff like this, they have in the past and they'll continue in the future. Of course scale of celebrity has to do with it as well, but that's the same for selling movie tickets, CD's or DVD's too. The bigger you are the more exposure (and money) you get, regardless how you distribute.
