Heading home for Christmas

Bags are packed, taxi booked to pick us up at 6am. We fly outta Brisbane 8:20am Monday morning, get to Korea around 5:30pm and spend the night at the Hyatt Regency in Incheon. Flight to Toronto leaves around 10:20am Tuesday and after crossing the dateline we get in Toronto at 9:20am Tuesday... time travellers from another dimension I reckon.

Spoke to my dad tonight, he's always scored us free Ice Dogs OHL tickets, free parking pass to Niagara Falls tourist areas, free entry to the butterfly place, and one night the kids get to turn on the light display over the Falls. :bouncy:

Gonna try to fit in a skiing trip up at Blue Mountain or at Holiday Valley, depends where the snow is at really. Last forecast is showing 5-10cm on Dec 21 and 22 so here's to hoping it bloody snows. My preference is for a white out, complete blizzard but we'll see.

Lots of drinking and hanging with friends, playing a lot of drums as long as I can help it, and having my first cold Christmas since 2004. Hanging out in Toronto too, kids might see a Raptors game depending on price, I'm still hopeful to see Dead Hearts in Buffalo on the 29th even if I have to go alone. Gonna see my friends new band American Hell on Jan 8 too, so it's good to fit in some shows.

Aside from the long ass flight I'm excited.

A lot of people ask me what kind of music I like. I love "soul music". My "soul music" isn’t a style, genre or niche. It’s music that is genuine. It’s a painful lyric, a dirty bassline, it’s a harrowing vocal, it’s feedback, it’s an anthem, it’s a love song, it’s anarchy. I’ve got my personal favourites but in the end it doesn’t matter who or where it comes from... so long as it’s good and it's real.

what's total flight time on this trip? taking the whole family is impressive (and expensive, I'm sure)! how long will you be home for? have a safe trip and enjoy your time w/ the family.

If I fail math, there goes my chance at a good job and a happy life full of hard work.

Got in on Tuesday, leave on January 10. Went through Incheon in South Korea where we stayed the night at the Hyatt Regency just outside the airport.

10 hours Brisbane to Incheon, 13 hours to Toronto. Layover on the way was 17 hours. On the way back it's only 2-3 which is gonna suck.

Korean Air was the cheapest, we paid just under half, family paid for the rest :D
