The Red Cross has already brought in millions of dollars and they are now setting up permanant shelters in the area for releif. If you want to donate
just call 1-800-helpnow I think it is. I went out to Norfolk to see some freinds off and they are on their way to the gulf coast ( 4 ships deep )
loaded to the gills with food, water and medical supplies, also the Navy hospital ship USS Comfort is on her way.

i dont find this funny, but i do find it ironic as, you, the us, is struck by a naturaldisaster and what follows it, your armed force are stationed
overseas.
just a question when we're (i'm) on the subject of armed forces, what side you do think has the most "right" when it comes to those people camping
outside bush's ranch?

we have the right to peacfully demonstrate here and this is important, one of the few last signs of a democracy left in this country

and in the first days after the Katrine diasaster Bush was more on TV reassuring the markets and oil industry than talking to HIS people affected by
this hell. The g'ment is seriously off-track and is failing the people BIG TIME: cutbacks on waterdefenses, no buses to evacuate the poor, no
police/national guards in first 72 hours,... it looks very much like a third world's country's reaction. But hey, those poor left behind are latinos
and black, so it might just not be on Bush's priority list. Oil first, the poor later (when the ratings are dropping).
...and it's funny to see that Cuba is offering aid.

It's awesome that Cuba's offering aid, especially considering the economic/human costs that they've endured as a result of the embargo. Has there
been any word as to whether Cuban ships/doctors will be allowed to enter the country to provide aid? I'd like to think that Fidel taking the moral
high road will ellicit a response in kind by the Bush administration, though I wouldn't be surprised to see Bush let people die before accepting aid
from Cuba.
