Minister: Canada Needs More Immigrants
Thu Oct 13, 8:11 PM ET
Canada's foreign affairs minister said Thursday that the country badly needed more immigrants to replace aging workers who are headed for retirement.
Pierre Pettigrew said that increasing the population to 40 million by welcoming more immigrants would help foot the bill for new infrastructure, such
as roads and bridges.
"This is a vast country, the infrastructure is expensive and it's a bigger country than the United States is," Pettigrew said. "I am saying that if we
were 40 million Canadians, that infrastructure would not be necessarily a lot more expensive, but we would be more (people) to foot the bill."
The minister, in comments to reporters after a speech in Montreal, said Canada was built by immigrants and that's the way it would continue to be
built.
Canada's population of just under 32 million has grown by only three million in the past decade. The federal government is set to unveil a new
immigration plan this month that would open its doors to 320,000 skilled immigrants a year by the time the plan is fully implemented in five years.

Im sure theyre not looking for any more social workers. I'll stay put. I assume nurses get paid more in the US too so Mrs. Moron wouldnt benefit
either.

It sounds better then it is. The Liberal government every time they need to buy some votes. But most of we get aren't skilled or educated people.
More often then not they're uneducated and can't speak or understand the language. If we were going to actually get that many SKILLED immigrants I
would support the idea more.

I wanted to move north, but they don't want me....
I own my own business, and yes there is some tax revenue they only want skilled workers...
when we looked at moving there a few years ago, you had to already have an established job before you could move...
not easy to do across borders and when you are a silly ink slinger

Hell, if Windsor was livable you'd love Halifax. It should also be noted that the authorities don't really even pretend to enforce weed laws here.

Well, you're right on that count, I'd just about double my income if I moved down there.

might make double but how much more a month would you have to spend to live down there.......
and besides you'd be too far away to continue the adventures of D&L.

Australia has been doing the same thing for years, trying to increase population here with skilled workers, only 20 million people live here. If you
love US politics and want good pay jobs in fields like electiricians, nurses, boilermakers, panel beaters, hair dressers etc then Aussieland is the
place for you.
I've been wanting to go back to Canada since August or so.
A lot of people ask me what kind of music I like. I love "soul music". My "soul music" isn’t a style, genre or niche. It’s music that is genuine. It’s
a painful lyric, a dirty bassline, it’s a harrowing vocal, it’s feedback, it’s an anthem, it’s a love song, it’s anarchy. I’ve got my personal
favourites but in the end it doesn’t matter who or where it comes from... so long as it’s good and it's real.

Everyone stay the fuck away, it's MY island.
Well, its this place where nobody works, and the pigs don\'t give you any shit. Everyone smokes weed and gets drunk all day. Its a place where
cunts like me and you can truly take it easy and relax. Know what I mean?
