Post hardcore?

Can someone explain what Post Hardcore is? Apparently this band is post hardcore. All I can gather is that the two guys singing are faggots.

I always thought Post Hardcore was supposed to be bands like Quicksand and such. This shit just seems like spastics mad about their big sisters getting all the pretty boyfriends.

Have you ever noticed how crayons are a lot like M&M's? All the colors tend to taste the same.

the saint's right, i don't think that shit isn't really "post hardcore". it's pretty much like, if you were in a hardcore band, but now you're not, and your new band is not tough at all, THEN it's a post hardcore band.

i prefer not to lump Quicksand in this category because their first album was so damn good. but you can toss everything after Slip right in the ol' post hardcore bucket. especially the bands they formed afterwards, like Handsome (which also has former members of Murphy's Law, Cro-mags and Helmet) and Rival Schools. that stuff is unbearable.

here's another one, Holy Roman Emperor, featuring members of The Hope Conspiracy. hard to believe.

can anyone suggest some more 'post-hardcore' bands?

Post-hardcore, pop-punk, power-pop, emo, screamo, new metal, progressive metal.........I can't keep track. I lump everything into 2 categories: Rock 'n' Roll
Louder and Faster Rock 'n' Roll

Renee Heartfelt is a post-hardcore band I like quite a bit. I dont remember what bands certain members come from other than American Nightmare/Give Up The Ghost. I know you downloaded their newest cd, Duane, and I think you didnt like it.

The whole Quicksand catalog is awesome. Yes, Slip is their best Lp, but Manic Compression is still great. Plus there's a bunch of songs that were recorded during the Manic Compression sessions that didn't make it onto the record. Some of them are better than anything on MC.
And for how much I LOVE Quicksand to death, I never could get into Rival Schools. It just seemed like Quicksand-lite.
Check out Worlds Fastest Car as well. It was Wally's band in between QS and RS. They never ended up releasing anything officially, but there is a full albums worth of songs out there.

Handsome. I think the first couple of songs on that record, but it gets boring after a while.

Bluetip. I guess you can consider them post-hc. They were a DC band in the mid to late 90s. Jason Farrell from Swiz was the singer/guitarist. Their 1st record 'Discord 101' is incredible.

I don't know, pretty much every emoish band from the early to mid 90s could be considered post-hc.

gooch, were you at that quicksand/helemt show at the troc in like 91? with the exception of every BL13 show, it was the bloodiest show i've ever been to.

I don't think so. Was it 91 or 92? I remember there was a QS show at the Troc before Slip came out that I missed because I was on vacation. That might have been the one. I think I saw QS every other time they played in the area. Fuck, I wish they would play a reunion, though I think Tom and Wally have some issues.
Tom posted this today on another board I read when we were discussing Moondog....

"If Walter plans on releasing reheasal tapes that i'm on he better include me because he's done some shifty things throughout my experience with him. (not going to mention)."

Would that make fugazi post hardcore? I always thought it was Indie rock that was considered post hardcore? I have no idea, Quicksand slip is one of the mainstay anthems through my acid drenched high school years, I finally got to see them live at the State theatre in Portland maine when they opened for the Deftones, it was funny becuase half the crowd left after Quicksand was done. Now thats entertainment!!

that's cool you were there, too.

i just think it's awesome for all the crazy, tough guy, mosh heavy, beat down bands i've seen in the past 17 years, QUICKSAND and HELMET rank as the show at which kids went the most nuts and simply killed one another. (bl13 doesn't count cause they actually shoot audience members.) i seriously remember seeing people with blood all over themselves and yet the biggest smiles on their faces - it was SUCH a good show.
