Attn: people with kids & Harry Potter/Fantasy fans

I hate to make a thread just to advertise something, but I think its something that some of you guys might be into. I have a friend that has written 2 books both of which have been published.

They are completly original stories, but are in the vein of Harry Potter and Neil Gaimans Sandman to some extent. The 2 books that he has had published are book 1 and 2 of a series that he is still working on.

I think that if your into either Harry Potter or Gaiman stuff or if you have kids that are getting into semi-fantasy stuf you will really enjoy the books. Plus I figured its getting close to Christmas and the books could be pretty cool gifts. It is listed on Amazon.com with reviews and it can be ordered, but the best way to get the books (or even just check them out) is at JMG BOOKS! all the orders placed there are filled through him and you can even get them signed and personalized if you want to.

The books are called 'The Tales of Slumber' and book one is "A Dreamer's Story" and book two is "The Key to Slumber"

Just check out the site and if you like what you see shoot him an email. Even if you dont buy the book Im sure he will be glad to hear from you.

Thanks for bearing with my 'advertisment'

CHECK OUT & ORDER THE BOOK HERE!

I definitly wouldn't have tried to get others to buy them if I thought the books were crap. I think they stand up to other things in the genre pretty well. They are written in a way that the average Harry Potter age kid (or even a little younger) can read, understand & enjoy them, but they have enough to them to grab an adult as well.

I think that on amazon or on his site there might be text from a couple of pages you can check out to get an idea.

Either that or just check out the site and some reviews on amazon & take a chance!

Gaiman fuckin' rocks. I'm reading Good Omens (written with Terry Pratchett) right now. Fuckin' hilarious book about the apocalypse. I really wanna pick up Anansi Boys, but I never buy new hardbacks and who knows when that'll be out in paperback.

As to the thread topic, I'm a little wary of any books listed as being for kids and adults since they always seem like stuff I would've enjoyed when I was a kid, but get bored by now. Not real big on the Harry Potter stuff for exactly that reason. I saw the first movie on cable, but wasn't really that into it. Definitely not enough to buy all the books or bother with the other movies. If somebody brought over the movies or books and lent 'em to me, I'd probably check 'em out, but stuff like this just doesn't make the cut budget-wise with me.

Cool. I think you will like it. Definitly let him know where you found out about the book if you order it on the ww.JMGbooks.com site.

I definitly think anyone with kids will get their moneys worth out of the book(s)
