Just showin' some new ink

I spent a good chunk of yesterday getting tattooed. No color yet, but I've got that scheduled. Sorry about the photo quality as all I have to take digital pics with is my phone and of course, it's a pain in the ass to try to photograph your own arm from all sides. We spent about four hours actually inking this and I'm really happy with it, even if I am living on ramen until payday. Anyway, here's a few shots of it....

It was done by Matt Rousseau at Your Flesh Tattoo.

No comments about the ugly ass wallpaper in my bathroom or my fuckin' towel, OK?

that big black section is badass. i love large swatches of a solid color. thorp's gonna approve of that as well. he's got a whole nautical theme happening in his sleeve.

Yeah, the black sections are the biggest solid black I have anywhere. I was jokin' with somebody earlier that I can claim to be partially black now.....

Have you ever noticed how crayons are a lot like M&M's? All the colors tend to taste the same.

Thanks for all the compliments guys (and lady). I'll post pictures again after I get the color, but that won't be for a while, gotta save up and my appointment's not for a couple of months anyway. This guy stays booked solid....

Yup, thats rad, I am a sucker for Sailor tattoos. I have been working on my collection of seafarin inkspots for awhile now. The greydation on the backside of the Clipper is very well done as Gabe pointed out, and the blackwork is nice and bold, you will have to take some shots when it heals. Color is going to look rad as all hell, do you have a scheme yet?

Sweet. You guys musta been smokin' to get all that done in four hours. I'm assuming you have a high pain threshold (or just love it) and a guy who can burn it up on the needle. I love the way the clouds peel in, very nice. Congratulations. My guy down here's a fuckin' speed demon too.

Well, its this place where nobody works, and the pigs don\'t give you any shit. Everyone smokes weed and gets drunk all day. Its a place where cunts like me and you can truly take it easy and relax. Know what I mean?

Voodoo, thanks for the kind words. I'm still workin' out just exactly how I want all the colors, but as with the rest of my work, it's gonna be bright.

Upyerbum, yeah, he is pretty fast and his hand is fairly light, so it wasn't bad at all. I don't really think forearms are all that bad unless it's a lot of concentrated work in a small area. I had that type of thing with my other arm, there's a fairly detailed piece going from inner elbow to wrist over there that felt pretty rough and the day after I thought I had nerve damage or something since my arm would alternate between a burning sensation and numbness, but it eventually went back to normal. The only spots on my arms that have given me much pain were the insides of my wrists and up near the armpit on the inside of my arm, but if I know anything about painful spots, it's that everybody is different.

Wow that turned out really well.

Not to sound nosey, but your job is cool with having sleves and whatnot?

Ha, yeah, they don't really give a shit. There is a rule about how many visible piercings you can have, but since I have none it doesn't affect me. My roommate used to work with me and she caught a little shit for her septum piercing, but nobody has ever tried to say a thing bad about any of my ink. I was a little nervous when I first started there and I wore long sleeves every day for about a month and then I just said fuck it. After I did that everybody started asking me all kinds of questions about my tattoos and gave me lots of compliments, but like I said, I haven't gotten a single negative comment. Not from coworkers or my bosses, not even from customers. I have had a few really weird comments though. I had one lady tell me that my skin was so colorful that I shouldn't wear clothes. That was a little awkward....

That is good to know.

I was reading a local newspaper today, and they are making correction guards at the local county jail cover up their tattoos now. Made me think of that.

Plus I want stuff done sometime in the future, and it just makes me think and question where, how large and whatnot.

Yeah, I hear about things going both ways. One day I'll read about companies abolishing rules against tattoos and such and the next I'm reading about the military not taking new recruits with visible tattoos. I think that in a few years it's gonna be a lot more open in the workplace. I mean shit, I live in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere and nobody has given me shit at all. I expected to be some kind of walking freak show when I moved up here and hardly anyone bats an eye. If they do say anything, it's to tell me how much they like my tattoos.

They certainly are cracking down right now, but with the military everything goes in cycles. Eventually as tattoos become more accepted in the civilian sector so will it in the military. As of right now the coast gaurd wont take anyone with ink. The other branches will if you get a waiver from the MEPS CO. Right now the Marines and Army will take just about anyone ink, no ink, two heads whatever. I have slowly worked on my sleave since enlisting and the trick is to do it in the winter when your in long sleeves, then break it out months later in the summer and no one seems to notice. I havent had to fill out a waiver yet (lucky) Once you have a shitload of work, no one really notices a new one sprout up. I'm going after the new year to get a Sailor Jerry pin up (sailor girl) done on my left forearm so I can make her dance:)

On my right forearm I have three monster girl pin ups, the one on the outside of my arm does a little booty shake if I wiggle my fingers. I had wanted a girl tattooed on my arm so I could make her dance ever since I was a kid. I remember it being on some TV show or something and I thought it was a great idea.
