maybe i care to much??
One of my good friends is really fucking his life up. Ive known him for 8 years and he wasnt this bad back in highschool but once he went to college
he was doing alot of coke, popping pills and drinking. He works alot, like 10-12 hour days and comes home and just wants to get fucked up. I try
talking to him but it doesnt really do any good. Lastnight my friends and I were hanging out at his place and he was snorting ritilins (sp?) and
getting wasted. Now i am not sXe ive done my share of drugs (coke,acid,shrooms,etc) but ive come to the conclusion that its time i grow the fuck up
and do something with myself. He tells me he drinks to much and has a drinking problem and then the next night he is getting hammered,staying up until
4 and having to work at 8 in the morning. Then he says he is fine he just needs to control his temper. Its like my friends and i have to babysit him
whenever we go out. I wish he would grow the fuck up. Anyone here have friends like this?

I have a lot of scumbag friends like this.
Fuck them though... theyre old enough to make their own choices... like the choice to be a druggy douchebag. Theyre my friends.... but i dont/wont
take care of them. I try not to put myself in a situation that requires me to try to take care of someone thats pretty fucked up/wired out in drugs.

Luca,,, You sound jsut like me about 5 years ago. I ahve some frineds who went done certain roads and a few who came back who sounded just like your
friend. I grew up around this dude since age 12. got into weed coke and pretty much everything else I guess. I remember him coming over to my
apratment wanting to get a job and straighten his life out. Later that evening a bunch of us went to a bar and then a party and dude was again fucked
up and talking shit like hes hard and doesn't need anyone telling him what to do. Later that week was FURY OF FIVE and dude was hammered all fucking
day long. Anyway some bad shit happened with him and whatever the case. About a year later he found a girl who straightened his ass up and well lets
just say he got into an apprenticeship and is now living really well. Dudes got a phat brand new house and a new baby. The person has to want to
straighten his life up man and no one can do it for him. Its all on him. We tried but our friend wasn't listening. Maybe he was but wasn't ready I
don't know.

Clevo your friend sounds EXACTLY like mine. Acting all hard and shit when he is drunk at the bar, making a big scene, throwing chairs and pushing over
tables. Its embarassing. I dont need him to prove to me how tough he is, in fact when he does that it doesnt make him look tough at all , he looks
like a idiot. I guess you guys are right though, i can only do so much. I told him im willing to help him anyway i can, ill goto AA meetings with him
and if he needs someone to talk to im there. I mean thats what friends are all about. But he needs to put some effort into straightening out his life.

That book was great and I barely put it down. I just ordered the follow up book "My Friend Leonard". It's great to see someone that doesn't need the
crutch of A.A. to clean their life up. I was initially extremely skeptical of reading it because it was in Oprah's Book Club. I am in no way a saint
and hardly SxE but when your friend is fucking up the only way is to cut them off. That's the only way they'll realize the impact of their behavior.
Not saying it will work definitely but there's a better chance.
