"American Hardcore" documentary

from punk news....

American Hardcore, a documentary covering American punk and hardcore from 1980 to 1986, is set to be screened at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah this year. The film by Paul Rachman was inspired by American Hardcore: A Tribal History, a book by Steven Blush. The filmmakers also have a myspace page.

The 98-minute film primarily deals with the most influential acts of that era, including Black Flag, Bad Brains and Minor Threat. It features appearances from Lucky Lehrer (Circle Jerks), Vic Bondi (Articles Of Faith), Ian MacKaye (Minor Threat, Fugazi), Greg Hetson (Circle Jerks, Bad Religion), Henry Rollins (Black Flag), Mike Patton (Middle Class), Greg Ginn (Black Flag, SST Records), Jack Grisham (TSOL), Brett Gurewitz (Bad Religion, Epitaph Records) and many others who took part in that era.

Bands featured include the aforementioned as well as other peers including Adolescents, Big Boys, Agnostic Front, MDC, Minutemen, Youth Bridge and dozens of others.

Plans are underway to arrange screenings in other cities

The very existence of flamethrowers proves that sometime, somewhere, someone said to themselves, ?You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I?m just not close enough to get the job done.? George Carlin

This sounds good. They picked a good 'era' as well (80-86).

Well, its this place where nobody works, and the pigs don\'t give you any shit. Everyone smokes weed and gets drunk all day. Its a place where cunts like me and you can truly take it easy and relax. Know what I mean?

Unfortunately, the dude that wrote the book thinks that hardcore doesn't exist after 86.

I LOVED the book. I have read it three times. I almost don't care how accurate it is. I just enjoy the stories. So great.

Have you ever noticed how crayons are a lot like M&M's? All the colors tend to taste the same.

i read that book cover to cover
very good in my opinion
i hope i get to see the film
hardcore from 80-86 is a completley different element than stuff 92-present. no comparison, 2 different genres in my opinion.
