Hot Topic is not punk rock!
Has anyone else heard this song?? Its really funny! I heard it on Satelite radio this morning then I found the guys MySpace page. Its www.Myspace.com/McLars The song on on the page, but you can only listen, not download it.
The song itself may be no more punk rock than Hot Topic is, but the spirit is there and its catchy!
I figured out most of the lyrics, but not all of them. Anyway... incase your curious. Check it out and see if you can figure out the 2 lines Im
missing. here they are....
Books about Evanescence - are not punk rock!
Guns N Roses watches - are not punk rock!
Hello Kitty iPod cases - are not punk rock!
Rob Zombie lunch boxes - are not punk rock!
Slipknot binder paper - are not punk rock!
Tinkerbell pillow cases - are not punk rock!
Led Zeppelin air freshners - are not punk rock!
Tupac inscence burners - are not punk rock!
Chorus
Hot Topic is not punk rock x 4
???????? <- I cant figure out this line
ICP throw blankets - are not punk rock!
Beaded Elvis curtins - are not punk rock!
Talking ____ plush dolls - are not punk rock! (missing a word)
AC/DC hair clips - are not punk rock!
Sponge Bob wrist bands - are not punk rock!
Sex Pistols boxer shorts - are not punk rock!
The Dischord back catalog - maybe thats punk rock!
Chorus
Hot Topic is not punk rock x 4
Break Down
Hot Topic is a contrived identification with youth subcultures to manufacture anti-athoritary identity and make millions.
The eight dollars you paid for that Mudvayne poster would be better spent used to see your brothers friends band.
D.I.Y. ethics are punk rock.
Starting your own lable is punk rock.
G.G. Allin was punk rock.
But when a crass corporate vulture feeds on mass consumer culture then spending mommys money is not punk rock.

this is a fact
hot topic emloyees are paid to attend shows, and report what people are wearing at said shows
they then proceed to purchase the goods and sell them in malls across america....
my wife and daughter go in once a month when they have 50% off clearance shit
you can get mad loot, of family guy shit for like a buck, cause oh yeah they fucked up the purchasing...
as for getting stuff in the stores, good for thorp....
we used to run a clothing line that wa doing pretty well, and we approached salesmen about selling our stuff to the devil....
they wouldn't touch anything for less then 3.00 a shirt, so they cold mark it up to 15.00
I wish my production costs were that low,
I support the idea of spreading punk, but not through coporate means

this is pretty funny.
Hot topic is good for what it is...
Its takes things that you could only find in certain areas, to everyone everywhere!
I mean, where else can i find a miles Davis shirt, and a Disciple a.d. 7" in one place?
ha!
Its a good thing, even if you dont want to admit it.

All I got to say is over christmas the wife and I were walking by the store and a group of 12 year olds were talking about how that store was there
favorite because they had Misfits stuff. The mother of one of the kids said "BE BACK AT THE FOOD COURT IN 1 HOUR" I thought. Man did Danzig Jerry Only
and Doyle have this in his head all along? O and they looked at us like we were crazy for being in that store too. WELL EXCUSE ME FOR NOT HAVING BLACK
BAGGY PANTS THAT DRAG IN THE MUD WITH 500 DIAPER PINS IN THEM.

Ill admit that I go on everytime I goto the mall, but I really cant think of the last time I bought something there. I Think for the most part even
though they have some cool stuff, its mostly overpriced.
So does anyone know that last missing line to the song??

The last time i was in a hot topic was at the begining of last summer. My son wanted me to cut his hair into a mohawk and color it red.
I bought the hair color from hot topic.
Have you ever noticed how crayons are a lot like M&M's? All the colors tend to taste the same.

I went into one last year when I was in Florida to see what the hype was about. Thought the store, it's employees, and most of the teenybopper
customers were fucking gay. I was wearing some old school punk shirt, ferget what band, and some kid laughed at it with his friends and was all "that
old guy doesn't know shit about punk" to his little Good Charlotte loving friends. I in turn laughed right back at them and let them know just how
contrived and lame their little punk "look" was. They had no clue what I meant. All in all, it was kind of amusing.
I don't think I saw a single thing I would have bought.

I bought the Terror one witht he underdogs cd when it was released and the dude at the counter was like "this band is old school hardcore" He kept
going on about how oldschool they were and shit. So I mention SLUGFEST and the dude was like "Who?" All I got to say is whatever. Its cool that
dissenfranchised FRANCHISED kids have a place to go and THORP can represent in them.

There is a level of intelligence they hire UNDER..
if you're too intelligent and know your history, they don't want you working there.
you have to be totally in tap with ignorance like everyone else who regulary shops there.
