What's there to do in NYC?

I flying into New York on tuesday and spending the night before I pick up a truck in ct. and drive home. If anyone can recommend something fun on a tuesday night in manhattan it'd be apprediated, not so into touristy type stuff but might try to catch a taping of the Daily Show- what are the odds of actually snagging some of those "stand-by" tickets?

WAIT... I assumed this was a joke, you're not serious?

edit- Holy shit the website confirmed it, does anyone know how to get tickets, it says sold out but I'll pay scalper prices, surrender a kidney, sign over my first born son-actually I don't think I want to admit to what I might be willing to do for tickets. Any help would be VERY much appreciated.

BD you rock, I've got a couple tickets tentatively lined up through craig's list. Is anyone familiar with the advance ticket set-up at cb's? There's a warning on their main site that tickets bought online can't be used by anyone but the original purchaser, is this for all shows or certain ones? just want to be sure I'm not being taken for a ride.

i've sold tickets on craigslist a number of times, but never for CB's shows. if the original purchaser bought them from the club in person, the tix aren't gonna have his or her name on them anyway. but if they were ordered online, it's a different story. worst case scenario, just arrange to meet the person out front and go in with them. just don't pay in advance.

either way, i'd call CB's to see if 1) they're doing tickets at the door (which they typically do) and 2) if you have to be with the person who purchased them.

Turns out the guy I'm buying them from is going to the show and has some extras so the lady and I'll just go in with him, I'm pumped- thanks again Duane. I might have got them a bit cheaper if they're holding any but I didn't feel like chancing it. I got the pair for $75, I wouldn't normally spend that much on a show but I'm vacation and this is sort of a once in a lifetime deal. I think I might do the unthinkable and agree to take the little lady to a taping of Regis and Kelly, it'll be the least I can do if she has to use the bathroom a cbs:D.

Well I got back thursday- got into the show without any trouble, the Dolls put on a great show and played some new songs that rocked pretty hard, I'll be looking forward to the new album. The bulk of the set leaned pretty heavy on the first album with a few tracks thrown in from "too much, too soon" and a surprisingly good cover of "take another little piece of my heart". I'm afraid I didn't have a camera with me so I don't have any pictures to share which is a shame because age sure hasn't dulled David Johansen's flambouyance or stage presence. Thanks again for the tips on the show guys.
