My Tattoo Version 2.0

I had another apointment for my tattoo tonight. I thought it was going to be a lot closer to done, but it looks awesome so far. I have to go back again in a week and a half to get more done. The artist thinks that it will be another long session and then a shorter one so it will still be a bit till its all done, but Im definitly liking it so far!

Tattoo now...

Tattoo after first apointment...

what colors are you going to be doing
if you are going to be using white, becareful
I have known alot of people who have gotten white ink and have had their body reject it...
and not all from the same artist
I had some in my forearm and it didin't heal for almost 3 months till I went and had it re worked to get the pigment out...
jsut giving you a heads up bro
looks great so far and I'd hate for something to go wrong

Im not sure about the white or not, but the rest of the bandage detail wont be until the last apointment anyway. Next will be the rest of the hair (both girls) and all the face details and other skin details. I wish it was further along, but Im still really liking it!

but if you are thinking of going with white....
have him doa small test section somewhere else a different arm or soemthing and see who yu heal it out before going with it, might save a lot of time, money and pain

Weird, I've never heard of anybody having problems with white. Red, yes, but not white. I have white in several of my tattoos and never had a single problem with that. The only things I've ever heard people complaining about white are people with darker skin who couldn't understand that putting white ink under a few layers of skin wouldn't really show up white.

The tattoo is looking really good Honus. How long was that second session? It doesn't look like they really did all that much. I mean, I see all the detail work on the bandages and some shading on the brunette's hair, it just seems like tiny steps. Not trying to bag on your tattoo or the artist, please don't think that, I'm just curious about the speed different artisits work at.

The first session was the full outline and it was an hour and a half of actual tattooing.

The second session was also an hour an a half of actual tattooing. He did do the beginings of the hair and the detail on the bandages, but he also did what he called 'powerlining' over every line from last time. I think the first session was kind of light because he knew I was nervous and didnt know how my skin would handle it and how I would heal etc. He is also taking it slow on purpose. I think that as an artist he is really happy with how its coming out and he doesnt want to rush it at all. He wants to make sure that things heal correctly and all that. He did say that I "Sit like a rock" which I thought was pretty cool because of how nervous I get and the fact that it does hurt. I just sit because what am I gonna do? Start wiggling around while hes tattoing me!? Hahaha....

Yah so it doesnt look that much differant in the sense of color or extreme detail, but every line in the tattoo is much bolder than it was first time around.

Ah, that makes sense. Like I said, it looks very good and I'm sure he knows what he's doing, I just usually think of about four or five hours when I think of a session so I was a bit worried that he was pumping you for cash if that was all he got done.

His hourly rate is $100 an hour which is cheaper than most in the area, but I think when its a really big piece he doesnt charge by the hour.

My first session finally happened after 3 canceled apointments that were all calceled by him for differant reasons. So when I finally went the first time he felt so bad that he did all the outline for free.

Then when I went back this past Friday he did all the work you can see in the pictures and he charged me $50. So Ive gotten all the work so far for $50! I did bring some old action figures for his son and he was super psyched and I coppied some CDs for him for the shop so maybe I'm getting brownie points for that too.

Its been a perfect experience so far. I feel comfortable with him even after telling him I was 'scared' at the begining. Hes just a really easy going guy and I'm VERY happy with the work so far!

In my area I have seen around $60+ an hour as an average. That guy is doing an EXCELENT job soo far. If I had the cash, and it was a little closer, he looks like a great choice for one piece I have in mind.

I want to get this on the front of my leg (taking up the WHOLE front of my leg below the knee) and have the trees and dead bodies wrap all the way around (except for a 1/2 inch border around my current tat on the back of my leg (BFB Skull).

Then on the other leg, I want a similar style drawing of Leatherface and have some sort of background theme that can repeat / wrap just like the trees and dead bodies on this one.

That Jason picture is awesome!! Since I started with this tattoo I was thinking about maybe a Jason and Leatherface one on each foot or a cool Norman Bates or Patrick Bateman! Its though because theres not to many places (on my body) that I definitly want to be tattooed.

Honus, it's coming along nicely!!!! I assume he is giving you good aftercare advice, if not, or you have questions, just ask, and welcome to the official "going to hell for desecrating our fleshly temples club" I actually have used that same method of bloodlining or light lining to give the virgin client a feel for it before we commit solid powerlines as your man calls em. it works well. I like the stipling in the bandages, what did you say this picture is from?

Hey VooDoo... I didnt know you did tattoos. I'm definitly really happy with this as a first experience. I already want a second tattoo, but its really only because Ive know what 2 things I DEFINITLY wanted for years now!

The original artwork is from a comic called Strangers in Paradise. Those are 2 of the 3 main characters. The girl on the right is Katchoo and the one on the left is Francine. You can check it out at www.StrangersInParadise.com if youre interested.

Thanks for all the compliments. I really cant wait for it to be done, but at least after the next apointment (April 12th) it will have some color in it and will look almost done!

Have you ever noticed how crayons are a lot like M&M's? All the colors tend to taste the same.

Has anyone had the front of their leg done? Seems like it would hurt like a sonofabitch.

Some of the hair on one of the girls is on my shin and it actually hurt less than the rest of it, but thats still just thin lines so I dont know if it will get worse.

yeah, the front of your leg is gonna hurt, but like gabe said, it's a tattoo, so it's kinda supposed to. below is a pic of the big guy and i (and our leg-front tattoos). the shin, ankle bone and knee cap all bothered me the most casue there's no meat between the skin and the bone. i hate that feeling of your bones vibrating.

If I fail math, there goes my chance at a good job and a happy life full of hard work.

Yeah, that is what I was thinking. I know the pain of tattoos and could bare the pain for the calf tattoos I have, but the front of the leg seems a bit thin, meat wise. So, I am a bit more iffy on weather my pussy-ass can tolerate it (I am sure I could though and the payout of pain is worth it).
