Kind of both. I live in a house that is in my dads name, but we both own. So I pay him 'rent' but its just going to a mortgage.

I assume he means he "Owns" a house, but not really because he has a mortgage. In reality almost no one "Owns" a home, they all 'rent from the bank'.
Plus even if you do pay off a mortgage you still have to pay all the insane unjustified taxes that go along with the home. It NEVER ENDS!

We've joined the ranks of homeowners.
In two weeks, we looked at 150 places online, then 20 in person.
Made an offer last Friday and spent the weekend negotiating.
Got the executed contract today; we move in late June.
Fuck an a'!

i live at home right now, rent free. plan to stay that way until i move out and at that point i'll hopefully be buying, not renting. yah. that's my

interest rates went up a fair amount last week, which kind of sucks, but settlement is a ways off, so we can always request a reduction if they dip
back down between now and then.
