specials

listened to the first Specials disc on the way into work this morning. Forgot how much I liked it. Haven't listened to it in years. I found myself driving esceptionally fast on I-76.....

I was driving down City Ave rockin the Ducky Boys "No Gettin' Out" this morning... probably singin' at the top of my lungs and boggling the minds of other drivers...

I never bought anything from them. What are some good records. I think I would appereciate them more as I age. In fact I noticed some cd's used at a record store but I don't remember the names. I will pick them up. Did they ever release a shitty cd? If so let me know so I don't pick it up. Also Whats up with the Toasters? Are they worth a listen? I knew people into them but they those people were a little silly so I shut that band out by association. Bad of me I know.......;)

As for the Beat, only their first album is worth getting. Good stuff but steer clear of anything after that. As for the Specials both of the first two albums are great. Don't expect the second one to be a copy of the first cause it's not. I know they've had some newer ones out too. Last one I heard was guilty till proven innocent which was suprisingly pretty good. Not classic but good. Toasters went from being a great band to kind of mediocre. Older stuff is generally better with them. Everything up to and including NY Fever was exceptional. After that not as great but not bad. They used to have a real good groove, that actually felt like it was rooted in the older stuff with their own modern spin on it. I kinda think they fell into that Ramones trap where they started playing everything too fast.

guilty till proven innocent --- that was one of them. I'll grab one of the Specials and one of the Toasters to check em out. I went to see the Toasters play at Oberlin College in 1991 I believe but instead I met a chick so I payed no mind to the band. I was too "punk" I guess. :D
