buying presents for friends
I'm a little irritated and hurt by something that a friend did, but I know that I'm over reacting at least somewhat. I just wanted to get an opinion
from someone else.
I have a friend that I have exchanged christmas & brithday presents with for years. I'm the kind of person that puts a lot of thought into gifts and I
pride myself on getting people really awesome stuff like 99% of the time.
Anyway, over the last year I have seen just about everything that I've ever bought him be sold on eBay. I know that after I give someone something it
belongs to them, but it still hurts a little. I really can't see myself selling something that was given as a thoughtful gift. I rather just pack it
away to save any hurt felings if they found out I sold it wether its a $15 tshirt or a $100 collectible item.
If I'm being a bitch feel free to put me in my place. Maybe I'm just being a bitter, cranky old fuck!

I don't think you're being unreasonable, maybe get him a gift certificate for a dozen ebay listings or something for your next gift.

Maybe the dude's hurting for money. I always hate throwing out gifts from people even if it's something I havent used in a while or didn't use even
though it was a thoughtful gift, but sometimes my place gets too cluttered and some stuff has to go.
Also, how's this for strange. A bunch of years ago I bought my father this framed picture of Fenway park with a picture of the team for that year. I
thought it was a cool gift because we had gone to a bunch of games together that year and did the father/son bonding stuff. We became closer than we
ever had. Well, a few years after I gave it to him I was over his house visiting and he takes me down to the basement. He hates clutter so he's
always looking to give me stuff, and he handed me over the framed pictures. Im not sure if he just didnt remember that I gave it to him or what, but
I was bummed out for a little while. Im over it now, and it's still sitting somewhere in my living room waiting for me to get a house with a man room
or an office so I'll have a place to hang it.

Like Moron said, I would think maybe he's in a bad financial situation, but that would still be kinda rude. If I was hurting so bad that I needed to
sell off things given to me by friends I would tell them that I was doing so and explain why, so that they wouldn't feel exactly the way you are
feeling now, Honus. In other words, I don't think you're overreacting, but it is possible that this person has a reason for selling this stuff off.

The thing is he does kind of need money because his wife is pregnent with their 2nd kid, but he seems to always find the money to do and buy 99% of
the stuff he wants. If it was SOME of the stuff that I had given him I would understand, but its to the point now that I really think hes sold just
about everything Ive ever given him and Ive been friends with him for over 10 years.
The reason he needs the money is vacations and stuff that all cost more than he thought and maybe couldnt totally afoard, but went on anyway. Then add
the 2nd kid to that and thats where hes at.
