Fleisher Bros Superman shorts

I was in Toys R Us today.. looking for a particular Batman figure... and I find these DVDs for 2 bucks each of the Max and David Fleisher Rotoscoped Superman shorts from the 40s. This stuff is great. Fast stories, low dialogue... just all around fun stuff. Animation is superb and makes some of the shit coming out now look like ass.

I got Vols 1 and 2, 1 has 8 episodes(there was nine on a different more expensive disc that has an un-PC episode featuring a Native American mad scientist who decides that Metropolis should belong to his tribe and proceeds to make earthquakes with electricity) and Vol 2 has 7 episodes. Great stuff.

I LOVE cheap DVDs of old stuff like that. Awhile back I got 2 DVDs of Three Stooges cartoons at Target for .25 cents each!

It's a really small yown in Southern, IL. I think it is about 1.5 hours south east of St. Louis. It looks like a sterotypical Small Midwestern Town. Hasn't really changed much in decades. The people are really nice as well.

Oh, and some decent bass fishing.

I saw some computer animated Popeye thing at the Toys R Us... I was a little weirded out by that. Seems wrong to me.
