Hey Big Duane! You're a one man promotion machine. I saw you posting about us on some east coast hardcore forum... You're fucking nuts. Wait til
you hear the new mix; it sounds like a completely different (better) album. Do me a favor, though. Don't ever, ever, ever mention Dillinger or The
Promise when talking about Starkweather again. I've never heard of those bands and I'm not sure what you're even talking about. Who the fuck are Jim
and Liam? I've never heard of them. You ROCK. I'll try to send you the Into the Wire test press next week.

haha! you know, i'm not going out grandstanding, but it is important to educate. besides, that post is all fact... 1) here's the deal with the
band. 2) the album rules. 3) here are some official references. just the facts!
that's one of my favorite things about the internet... 10-15 years ago, it was pretty hard to get good, reliable info on a band if they weren't active
in your local scene; there were endless rumors and hearsay. and while the internet certainly hasn't reduced the rumors, it does give you the
ability to get information from a reliable source. (not meaning myself, cause i'm a moron, but band interviews and official sites are a good place to
start.)
i don't post there very often, but i like that site cause it's new york centric. besides, the starkweather album is getting a fair amount of press,
and people are excited about it, but a lot of what i'm reading isn't quite right... punknews got the new material mixed up with the croatoan material,
lambgoat thinks the album is coming out next week, etc, etc. and as a long time, staunch supporter, it's important to me that people get their facts
straight. ...and that they buy the record!
If I fail math, there goes my chance at a good job and a happy life full of hard work.

You know I was just fucking with ya, Big Duane. I love the rumors that get spread about us and I definitely subscribe to The F.U.'s philosophy of
"We'll tell you lies if it makes us laugh". I think we've done more to promote the band by not being cooperative and not playing shows even though
neither of those things have been done for that effect. We hate playing live and we don't much like doing interviews. I've actually forbidden myself
from doing interviews for the new album because I have no fucking filter and I end up saying horrible things about other people, other bands, and
sharing way too much of my very fucked up personal life. Seriously, though, I get nuts when "featuring members of..." is used as a marketing
technique and there are people that have wanted to do that with us. I've never heard The Promise and I thought the last Dillinger album was a turd.
We have nothing to do with those bands (or any others) as far as what we sound like or what scene we're part of. Those 2 guys wrote, at most, maybe 2
or 3 parts on the new record. Michelle had far more to do with the record than they did and she didn't even play on the fucking thing.
On a happier note, Steve from Uppercut contacted Rennie the other day just to say hello and I guess Rennie's gonna head out to the show. Uppercut
was, along with Sheer Terror, Prong, Confusion, and Darkside, one of our favorite New York bands. Really creative stuff. I think I'll sit that one
out though. Too many fucking people. I'll be in touch.

yeah, i know! and i completely understand your point about the dillinger/promise promotion. you know, i haven't really listened to either of those
bands. i saw the promise once at cbs and thought they were good, but i wasn't blown away (sorry jfuckinw). and dillinger...? well i saw them once at the troc years ago, and couldn't stand it. i remember thinking to myself, "short standing
in the pit and having a seizure, how the hell do you dance to this?" i've heard a few mp3s since then, and i get it, i just can't get into it.
rennie told me about steve contacting him; that's great. it looks like jack collins from edgewise is gonna fly in from vegas for that show, as well.
they had a show at crappy old 'Night Works' the night of uppercut's last show.

First post here, since I read there are quite some "fans" over here.
Anyway, I will be handling the vinyl for "Croatoan". The first mix already blew me away, Rennie just mailed me the new mix, I can't wait. I'll put up
some outtakes on our site as soon as I receive it.
About the whole 'marketing' thing, well, we abuse it as well. Simply because there are so many (new) people here in Europe who have never heard of
Starkweather, while the promise & dillinger are some of the biggest bands over here. And yes, therefor some people turn their heads, but once they
actually hear "Croatoan" they will most likely have no idea what's going on since there are absolutely no similarities between aforementioned bands. I
wouldn't worry about it too much, I don't.
If anyone cares, I'm also releasing the European version of debut 2xLP by Red Sparowes next month.
