Cro-Mags Question from the "Last CBGB Show" Thread
I know nothing about the Cro-Mags. I've heard a few songs and nothing has really stuck out. I read the occasional Fuck You post from Harley or
"let's put it aside" post from Harley.
Was there one incident that set off the hate between John Joseph, Harley and some others that were in the band or was it just a series of things over
the years?
Thanks!

There was a bunch of shit over the years, but what all really boils down to is they both wanted the spotlight on themselves and each wanted to be the
"star" of the band.

Ego. Shit talking. Bullshit.
Each aspect of the soul has it's own part to play, but the ideal is harmonious agreement with reason and control.

For the most part, I think Discipline is right.
One of the rumors is that John Joseph was in some branch of the military but went AWOL (seemingly no big deal). Harley wanted to sing for Cro-Mags,
so he called and reported on John Joseph, who I guess then served time in a military brig. That's where the bad blood between them stems from,
according to the rumor.
Also, there are two "official" Cro-Mags websites... one by Parris, one by Harley. Seems they hate each other, but it's been fun to watch them air
their dirty laundry over the internet on occasion. Parris claims a bunch of song-writing credit, says all Harley ever did was sell weed in Central
Park while good material was being written, etc.
Basically, and bunch of egotistical guys who act like rock stars is what it sounds like. They should make a TV movie. I'd watch it. If they change
the music from hardcore to glam metal or some other form of cock rock, lots of other people would watch it.

The official soap opera of the hardcore scene. At least they put out some kick ass tunes to go with all the bullshit.

It's great. It gives us losers on the internet something to gossip about, while some washed-up musicians get to make money of off some shit that
happened over twenty years ago.

Come on, the best part was the Parris-Harley reunion tour. I saw them play to five fans and a handful of guys drinking at the bar who wished they
would stop. And Shutdown put on a cool set, too (whatever happened to them?). I guess they didn't cash in like they expected.
Oh, and Age of Quarrel may have been released when I was 3 years old... pre-G.I. Joe.

When the Harley/Parris tour played here it was rammed to the tits. A great fucking show all around.

It was an awesome show when I saw it, too. Amazing when you consider it really was only five people watching them play.
To be honest, I was into oi more than I was hardcore, and I had barely heard of Cro-Mags when I saw them. Cool show, and I got the "Before the
Quarrel" CD there.
However, the soap opera is funny. Cro-Mags are the reality-TV of the hardcore scene.

Its kinda sad though, especially when you look at that great picture of them in the 'What Hardcore Looks Like ' thread.
Well, its this place where nobody works, and the pigs don\'t give you any shit. Everyone smokes weed and gets drunk all day. Its a place where
cunts like me and you can truly take it easy and relax. Know what I mean?
