Hey, although I can't stand him, Hugo Chavez has just declared in a speech his intentions for more heating oil assistance for middle to lower class income families over this winter. I know you had a hard time with the oil company last winter, have you looked into this kind of assitance? It's probably based on a specific income brackett, it might be worth checking out. Now I just wish people in his country could openly criticize him they way he does our President here.

there was a story on the news here in PA last winter about how he was basically giving heating oil away to families in the area. (probably, he was just paying their bill, but whatever.) one woman was so thankful, she flew down (on his dime, i'm sure) to thank him.

generous. but doubt a HUGE PR stunt at the same time.

If I fail math, there goes my chance at a good job and a happy life full of hard work.

Oh, it's all about Politics and favorable opinion in this country, if it wasn't and he truly genuinely cared about the well being of people, there would'nt be so many poor and starving in his own country. But I won't look a gift horse in the mouth ya know. Just be smart about it people.

I actually enjoy his antics immensely.

Well, its this place where nobody works, and the pigs don\'t give you any shit. Everyone smokes weed and gets drunk all day. Its a place where cunts like me and you can truly take it easy and relax. Know what I mean?

I like the guy, by the way. I love it when dudes smart off to the guys that hold the big motherfuckin' stick. Ballsy in my book.

I'm a fan of Chavez but his address to the UN was sort of walking a thin line between charismatic rebel and smartass. I agree with most everything he said but I think it might have been a bit more effective if he had exercised some tact and diplomacy in his condemnation of Bush without resorting to grandstanding (I hate it when I catch myself sounding like a grown-up). Apparently Chomsky's books have been selling like hotcakes the last few days though... so I suppose it could be said the ends justify the means.

Things could get pretty interesting the next little while with Evo Moralez in Columbia aligning himself with Chavez. The alliance Chavez is forming with Iran is pretty interesting/scary, it would definately give some teeth to his international presence but I have a hard time believing his egalitarian populist approach would survive a cozy relationship with Ahmadinejad (I admit I had to google the proper spelling). They've sort of struck me as opposites, Chavez presenting a reasoned objection to Yankee imperialism with Ahmadinejad playing up to the role of lunatic- though I admit I don't know much about him beyond what's on western news- his Holocaust denial sort of spoiled his credibility in my eyes.

I think Ahmedinejad just likes to push buttons, and I do believe that he's since rescinded his alleged Holocaust denial.
