Religion (yeah I said it)

There's a lot of tension in the world these days. I went through my adolescence in the 80's, when we all had the bomb hanging over our heads. Now the bomb's in the backyard, and its all religiously linked these days. My question is...are we being set up for hate? Are we being played to kill each other?

And if not...why do they want to kill us? did we wrong them? and if so.. can we make amends? and if not....game on?

Well, its this place where nobody works, and the pigs don\'t give you any shit. Everyone smokes weed and gets drunk all day. Its a place where cunts like me and you can truly take it easy and relax. Know what I mean?

Well, I think there are forces at work to divide and conquer the people of this world. I'm not saying there's any grand conspiracy going on within governments, but I'm talking figures working in the deepest shadows and pulling strings that those connected to them aren't even aware exist.

Since in the absence of Prophets, sages and wise men; and the increasing defamation of such men or misreprensentations; religion has been left to clerics... many of whom are not willing to evolve to a world that is increasingly global and who are afraid of interacting with people of other faiths. They've grown so attached to the outward manifestations of spirituality... the rituals that we call "religion"... that they're blind to the similarities between all faiths. The core teachings of love and respect for one's neighbors as one's own self. Muhammad is reported to have said "you can't love God until you love your neighbor as you love yourself."

I think the increasing blindness to the deeper truths of religious expression and spirituality have made "religion" mostly a tool of the Devil... and it's being used to divide and conquer mankind. Each zealot of each religion is convinced that he owns the Truth, but the full Truth has never been completely revealed to mankind... it's beyond word and description so how can someone who reads a book of guidelines for how to get on in this world think he knows and owns the Truth? We can't possess something which is the birthright of all people... and unfortunately there are those on both sides of this so called "clash of civilizations" that think they do.

Have people in third world countries been wronged by the so-called first world? Hell yes they have! I was driving around in the more rural areas of PA yesterday after work and all I could think about was "this is beautiful and how nice that people own a peice of land, but at what cost to others on this continent a couple hundred years ago and at what cost is this maintained in the here and now?" Seriously, much of the creature comforts we take for granted are due in no small part to our exploitation of third world resources and labor. "They" have reason to be pissed, and because they live in a world that's pretty distinctly tribal... in their minds the transgression of one represents the feeling of the entire tribe/nation. And we are made to believe that "they" are all "barbarians" and that "they" have no reason to be angry. I know as a child in America I'd always hear about how it was so great here and good luck finding that anywhere else in the world... I was left with the impression that most of the rest of the world was just barren land with barbaric impoverished people.

There's a great deal of arrogance in our society, and I honestly think we will bring ourselves to our knees.... perhaps we are on our knees... but the angry third world is just beginning to show their rage.

It sucks too, because between the zealots on both sides people who see a deeper reality to religion or people who don't care about/hate religion because of the bullshit that clerics have pulled and how leaders have used religion as an excuse for maintaining control("My rule is the Will of God") get caught in the middle and could be trapped.

The question is... how do we get out of the crossfire, and can we?
