Out To Win

From Lambgoat:

Pennsylvania hardcore band Out To Win, formerly known as Mushmouth, has announced plans to play a final show in January. Formed in 1995, the group has released material with Triple Crown Records and Thorp Records. According to guitarist Chris Mahmood, "We're old. we're all in other projects, and really it's time. We have nothing but love and adoration for those friends that have supported us all these years."

The band's farewell show is scheduled to take place on January 27th at Sonar in Baltimore, MD, a show that will feature a slew of groups, including a reunion performance from Earth Crisis.

Lift The Curse is still one of my favourites.

A lot of people ask me what kind of music I like. I love "soul music". My "soul music" isn’t a style, genre or niche. It’s music that is genuine. It’s a painful lyric, a dirty bassline, it’s a harrowing vocal, it’s feedback, it’s an anthem, it’s a love song, it’s anarchy. I’ve got my personal favourites but in the end it doesn’t matter who or where it comes from... so long as it’s good and it's real.

^^^^^^^^ Hell ya. They never topped that in my opinion. Before or after. That record kicks ass.

Each aspect of the soul has it's own part to play, but the ideal is harmonious agreement with reason and control.

Good band. Best shit came out when they were still called Mushmouth. They played in Toronto with No Retreat once, that was a killer show. Wish them all the luck in the future.
