Candiria drummer left the band

Hello all,
This is an official Candiria update.

If you are not already aware, Ken Schalk has left the band. Its heart breaking I know but he needed to explore new things.
So ken, we wish you all the best.

The new album "Kiss The Lie" is now on hold because of the lack of a touring band. The label does not believe this record will sell enough copies without a touring band to justify a release. Therefore they are reluctant to release it. We are trying to come up with a marketing plan and a budget that will satisfy both the label and the needs of the record.

This is where we are at this point. As soon as we figure this out we will let all of you know. The new record is great and different and new and the artwork is beautiful so I personally can't wait for people to hear it.

The line up for the record is as follows..

Carley Coma
John Lamacchia
Michael MacIvor
Ken Schalk
Eddie Ortiz

Any questions or comments please write me here or please stop by the candiria myspace page and support by buying some new merch. I am trying my best to keep this thing alive to get this new record out to you all. OK take care and happy holidays-
John LaMacchia

^^ Wasn't he the whole band. I mean that dude is a great drummer and Candiria was all about the drums in my book.

The drumming was probably the most interesting part of that band, yes, but even with them their new music hasn't been as good. Im sure they can find a drummer who's just as good and they'll still continue a nosedive.

I saw them live and they were great. This was like 6 years ago maybe. I know they got that HUGE settlement a couple of years ago when their van got smoked. I can only assume they haven't collected any money because they need to tour to support.

Why wouldn't they release it on their own with all the dough?

I'm sure I'm missing a huge piece of information about all of this.

"Seminal New York eclectic rock act Candiria have been
awarded a massive compensation settlement,
pending appeal, for injuries and suffering they
experienced after a near fatal road accident
while on tour in the US on September 9th 2002.

Headed for Cleveland, Candiria were rear-ended by
18 wheel tractor trailer which completely disintergrated
the bands equipment trailer and ploughed on,
into the back of their van, flipping it for almost
100 yards before stopping, jettisoning band
members through windows and doors in the process.

As a result of the accident all members of Candiria
were hospitalised with critical injuries.
The band was placed on hiatus for two years until the
recording and eventual release of the storming new record,
'What Doesn't Kill You...Only Makes You Stronger',
due for European release on Earache on May 23.

The estimated total of the award is rumoured to
be in the region of $29 million.
Its is unclear at this stage when the band
will receive their compensation.

News from 04/21/05"...........

dont know if they got it or not.
with them askin for support by buying merch, maybe they havent.

i always liked candiria.
like most bands i like the older stuff better,
but still listen to their newer albums on occassion.

\"thank you very little\"

from what I understand they haven't gotten a dime
lawyers still have that shit tied up in appeals

I tried to book them a few years back, but matt pike hated/hates texas so no dice

best show was clutch, biohazard, candiria on Heathers birthday... 12/17/01
that was the last time I saw biohazard, and I think the last time I saw candiria as well

This was ooooold news. As much as I loved their previous efforts, they fell off pretty fucking hard. 300% Density was quality, Surrealistic Madness was insanely good and Coma Imprint had some interesting jams, really liked the Method Man Bring the pain cover.

I was at the show when the crash happened. They of course enver showed up and you should have heard the rumours that day. Anyway, I think they were awsome. I love the older stuff and I even jam the last record out sometimes. This I think does suck but I ddin't like the way they were headed. It seemed tooo fuckin watered down for them. they used to blow minds away on cd. Lately its all about sounding radio friendly.

By the way the opening band GOD FORBID told the truth and said on stage that it was a accident that made them a no show. However every little girl I mena boy at the show was talking alot of BS about why they didn't make it.

The only one I own is 300% Density. I like it minus the rap songs. Just can't get into that. The metal songs are really fucking good though.

process of self development

^^^^ that is there greatest work. In my opinion. I think they were tight, fluid hard and mello all on one disc. That shit rocks out the best. From beginning to end its great.

That is the best shit they put out.

Surrealistic Madness is earlier stuff same with BRD. Its good but they did not get into there own yet until PROCESS OF.......

"300% Dens......"..is awsome but almost too glossy but its still really good. "What doesn't kill you" is too fucking glossy but I still like it every now and again.

If you want a CD to floor you if you never heard it then jam out PROCESS OF all the way through. Listen to it like a stoner would listen to Pink Floyd or a Industrial wanker would listen to Cabaret Voltaire something. You hear new shit every time you spin it.

Seriously Process is the best stuff they did. If you like the mello stuff they also have a few side prjects and one of the is called GHOST IN THE CANAL. Really good stuff.
