Getting signed to Thorp

What does a band do to get Andy's attention? Should they just mail in a press kit to the mailing address in the Contact page or specifically email one of the contacts first with their intentions?

Also is vinyl OK to send it or should it be copied to CD-R? I'm sure a hardcore label would be able to appreciate a 7" submissions but I'm curious.

Where do submissions go & what is looked for when they are sent it? Long drawn out band bios and glam photos or the music and short bios? Does it matter who they've played with or anything?

A lot of people ask me what kind of music I like. I love "soul music". My "soul music" isn’t a style, genre or niche. It’s music that is genuine. It’s a painful lyric, a dirty bassline, it’s a harrowing vocal, it’s feedback, it’s an anthem, it’s a love song, it’s anarchy. I’ve got my personal favourites but in the end it doesn’t matter who or where it comes from... so long as it’s good and it's real.

taken directly from the "contact" section...

DEMO SUBMISSIONS: We are always accepting demos... sometimes it takes a while for us to listen to them, but we eventually get to all of them. For the most attention, please send as a CD-R along with lyrics, photos, bio, and a video. If we're interested in what you do, we'll get in touch. Please do not bombard us with follow-up inquiries. Thanks.
