Negative Approach photos

I promised these back when I first got home from going to the Fun Fun Fun Fest, but it took me until yesterday to get them loaded on my computer. I hope you all enjoy....

This is Ron Sakowski, he used to play in a little band called The Necros that a few of you might have heard of somewhere...

And this is the other non-original member, Harold Richardson, he plays in Easy Action...

Yes, that is a smear of blood running down John Brannon's chin

The reason he had that blood on his face is that he was so intent on hitting this shit hard that he would smash himself in the mouth everytime he started singing a new verse. You can see the crust of blood on his right hand in this picture from where he was gripping the mic and hitting himself.

Ron stage dove at the end of their set and talked about how it was something he hadn't done in 25 years.

I'm not sure, but I think someone must've farted in John's face...

At one point in the set, John Brannon said "I cowrote this next jam 25 years ago with someone who recently passed. This one's for Larissa, it's called Lead Song and she wrote it with me."

This is the closest I have to a photo showing Op. He was back there banging the fuck outta those drums, but you could tell he hadn't gotten used to playing with that intensity again. Don't get me wrong, he sounded great, but apparently he's been playing in a folk band for quite a while now. He looks like it too.

All of these photos were taken on my camera by my friend Kelly who went down there with me. We were right up at the front of the stage, as you can probably tell from the angle, and I had the immense pleasure of being one of about 4 people who got to sing along with NA. John must've thought I did ok as he kept coming back to me. That was a hell of a lot of fun for me.

So fucking jealous. I'll have to be satisfied with the Negative Approach dvd. Can't wait for the next one to come out.

I love that DVD. I think they put out a revised edition of it with stuff that isn't on my copy, but I'm not positive. I'm eagerly anticipating the second one too. It was kinda pricey at 20 bucks for how short it is, but it does have some great footage and more songs than most bands could fit into the same length of time, so it makes up for it. I saw some short clips from the show I was at on youtube, and it gives a pretty good idea of what the show was like, but the quality isn't all that hot. It's also broken up into a bunch of tiny segments for some reason. They range from 30 seconds to a few minutes in length, definitely worth checking out if you wanna see how they stand up to themselves from 25 years ago though.

No, their first reunion was at the Touch & Go show, this was in Austin on December 1st for a Festival Called Fun Fun Fun. It was the first shot at making a new annual fest in Austin. I don't know if they've decided to continue it or not. It seemed to go pretty well, but I don't know how it did financially and all that. There were three stages, the Punk and Hard Core stage that I stayed at all day, an indie stage that had stuff like Lucero and Peaches, and some kind of thing with DJs and electronic shit. NA and Circle Jerks were the big names on the stage I watched and I was pleasantly surprised to see that the Circle Jerks still have their old magic. They even threw in a few old Black Flag songs that Keith used to sing and people went nuts.

They rereleased it without the Misfits stuff and replaced it with something different. As far as I've heard, there's two more coming. One with the Touch & Go reunion, and another with old stuff. I'll be buying both of course.
