An update on babies, premature and not.
1. As you may recall (reminder 1, 2), my family and I participated in our second March of Dimes WalkAmerica event this past spring. We set a fund raising goal of $5,000 - twice
what we raised our first year - and I'm proud to announce that when all was said and done, we came in at $5,450. Donations ranged from $5 to $500,
and we have quite a few Thorp Board members to count among those contributors.
2. Sign the petition to convince Google that Prematurity Awareness Day (November 14) deserves a Google Doodle. http://www.marchofdimes.com/forms/signPetition.asp
3. I don't know how many of you are holiday card type people, but if you are, please consider buying some in support of the March of Dimes. 20% of
the net proceeds go to the organization. http://marchofdimesholidaycards.btobsource.com
4. My wife is four and a half months pregnant with our second child. Please keep your fingers crossed that this one gets his/her full 9 months.
If I fail math, there goes my chance at a good job and a happy life full of hard work.

Awesome duane!!.
Do you want to know if the baby is going to be a boy or girl?
Are you going to let it be a surprize?
I will definitely sign that petition as well.
Have you ever noticed how crayons are a lot like M&M's? All the colors tend to taste the same.

thanks everyone.
no, rv, we're not going to find out the gender of the baby. while we certainly understand why people do, we figure there are so few events in life of
this caliber, that we'd rather maximum the suspense.

We've always wanted more than one child, so yeah, it was planned. We would have preferred to have had them closer together, but we wanted to ensure
our first wasn't going to have any long-term health issues (which she doesn't) and we had mentally prepare ourselves for the possibility of having
another premature baby. There's no guarantee it will happen, but there's no guarantee it won't. And honestly, I could deal with another three months
in a nicu, but I can't bear the though of the end result not coming out as well. Hense, all the crossed fingers!
If I fail math, there goes my chance at a good job and a happy life full of hard work.

Well, its this place where nobody works, and the pigs don\'t give you any shit. Everyone smokes weed and gets drunk all day. Its a place where
cunts like me and you can truly take it easy and relax. Know what I mean?

Holy shit. I must have missed this thread while I was on my honeymoon. Congratulations Duane!!!!!
I noticed you mentioned something about a baby being due soon in another thread and was like WTF? I searched around and found this. Awesome news! I
assume he/she will be going closer to full term this time.

Congratulations BD. I will sign the petition. I know you are really active with the MARCH OF DIMES. I have been hesitant of most organisations like
them. I have never heard a bad thing about them and I like that. Some of the others may find it hard to delegate money and keep it out of there
pockets, but the March of Dimes seems to have the the right plan and utilise what they get effectively.
Praying seems to be what I think about now a days and your family are in them.
Each aspect of the soul has it's own part to play, but the ideal is harmonious agreement with reason and control.

thanks, clevo. the march of dimes started in the 30s to raise money for polio research. around 1960, they started focusing on birth defects,
prematurity and low birth weight. and you're rights, lots of nonprofits waste money like it's going out of style. the march of dimes puts about 75%
of what they bring in towards their programs. of the remaining 25%, less than 10% goes towards administrative costs, and the rest towards organizing
their massive fundraisers. those numbers could be better in my opinion, but for an organization that size, it's not bad.
and as for new kid, my wife found out what it was a few weeks ago. she said it was a surprise last time, so this time she wanted to find out. i get
it, but i don't want to know. the only person she's told is our two year old.
If I fail math, there goes my chance at a good job and a happy life full of hard work.
