new Clutch album

Clutch have completed recording a new album with a tentative release date of March 20, 2007. The album, titled From Beale Street to Oblivion, was produced by Joe Barresi (whose credits include The Melvins, Kyuss, Queens Of the Stone Age and Tool) and will be released on the DRT entertainment label. Songs titles include "Progress," "Power Player," "Devil and Me," "Black Umbrella," "Electric Worry," "When Vegans Attack," "Shiny Cadillackness," "White's Ferry," and "Child of the City." A 30-plus-date U.S. tour is being scheduled for early 2007.

"Well we're going to do a third album with DRT Entertainment if that says anything! (Laughs) We've never had any more than two records in a row with any of the labels we've dealt with in the past, so this is a new record for us! I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that they're a smaller label, and that they understand what the band is about..." ?Neil Fallon, Interview

despite many attempts, BLAST TYRANT and ROBOT HIVE/EXODUS never impressed me.

I love clutch but then again I don't
I have seen them so many times, and have every record up thru pure rock fury...
the song pure rock fury is one of my favorite songs of all time, the beat makes me want to boogie no matter the day or night

but I never got slow hole, blast tyrant the rerelease of jam room, or robot hive...
I just don't have funds to allocate for a lot of music purchases...

and when I went to see them last year in pitt and they played 5 songs I knew
the rest I had no idea about, and honestly they were all mediocre at best

I remember a time when I would drive up to 5 hours to see this band open for shit ass monkey bands....
and if they played new shit it was aleast different then what they had released in the past...
but the last 4 years it's been the same uninspired jam band riffs...

maybe I just need to give these records a chance, but man I just do not feel it
but put on transnational or the the space record, hell elephant riders and you better clear the dance floor...

The only Clutch album I don't totally love is Elephant Riders. Clutch fucking rule.

the lyrical content on this album is off the the fuckin chain.

i worry that the reason i don't like the last few clutch albums is because i don't listen to music the way i used to when i was younger...namely all the time.

so youz are telling me to lend my time to blast tyrant over the other one?

Elephant Riders is one of my favorite Clutch albums,
but i listen to them all regularly.

the last two i would give them time, they will probably win you over.

i also reccomend picking up the
Pitchfork & Lost Needles CD

That's the only Clutch record I have and the only one that really did it for me. I remember enjoying their first full length but thinking that they had gone in a direction very different than what I was hoping for. I picked up my copy of Pitchfork from them when they opened up for Avail the first time I saw them and I had never even heard of Clutch before. That was a crazy fuckin' show.
