the commute

how far do you have to travel to work (1 way).
it seems more people are driving a greater distance around here where I live. There used to be alot of jobs in the city but now they are all out way beyond the outskirts in the deep burbs. my company is moving in 3 years and my drive will nearly double if i stay there.

Mine is only 29km (18m) but it takes over an hour commuting on bus & train :S

I start in Christies Beach & end up in Adelaide. For 8pm starts I leave home at 6:20 to get in here by 7:50.

A lot of people ask me what kind of music I like. I love "soul music". My "soul music" isn’t a style, genre or niche. It’s music that is genuine. It’s a painful lyric, a dirty bassline, it’s a harrowing vocal, it’s feedback, it’s an anthem, it’s a love song, it’s anarchy. I’ve got my personal favourites but in the end it doesn’t matter who or where it comes from... so long as it’s good and it's real.

four days a week my commute is about 25 feet down the hall to the 'ol home office.
then, one day a week, it's 140 miles to the big apple.

If I fail math, there goes my chance at a good job and a happy life full of hard work.

My office is only a mile or so from my place but due to the nature of my work, I'm usually going all over hell and back to work on audits. Goddamned accounting.

Fortunately it's a hell of a lot better than when I lived in Phila. I was living in Center City but commuted to Valley Forge. That drive on 76 drove me out of my mind. 18 miles of bumper to bumper traffic and yuppie jackasses everywhere you look.

76 sucks it.
if there's no traffic, i can get from center city all the out to my place in 1 hour.
but that's a huge if.
it's worth it possibly of it taking a little longer to head south first, then come into the city on 95.

I am just under 10 miles I think. I'm in an office park. It takes anywhere from 12 minutes to 30 minutes based on time of day and my route. Not bad though. Mrs. Reed83 has 45 miles one way.

What time usually? We could have a running paintball battle across the bridge every morning.

I dont know the distance, but it takes me over an hour to get there by a combo of train and walking. The walk fucking sucks when it's cold or rainy outside, but it gives me some exercise.

Heh I wish my walk was cold & rainy. Yesterday the bus was 10 minutes early, saw it go by & the fucker didn't stop for me. so I had to walk to the train station. Its been in the 40's here for days so the walk fucking sucked. I nearly managed to catch up to the bus near the train station too, he was sitting at a timed stop down the road for the excess time he was early :S I hate public transit but driving back & forth to Toronto put me off driving to work for good I think lol.

I'm guessing that I'm in the 6-10 mile range, it takes me about ten to fifteen minutes to get to work in the mornings. My other job is a block away from the day job, so that's a quick trip on the days I go over there after doing the day job. This town is tiny and the people here are spoiled as shit. I live outside of town and both my jobs are basically in the center of town so it shouldn't take anybody much calculating to figure out how small this place is, yet most people here complain about having to drive "all the way across town". They also whine about the traffic which adds about five minutes to my drive anywhere in town at it's worst.

Right now I'm at Dam Neck Naval base, about 5 miles or so one way from my house. Don't even have to get on the freeway, anyone who has been to VA will know that is an amazing feat. When I transfer next year, I'm hoping to go to Little Creek Amphib and avoid good ol NOB (Home of the Navy's Atlantic Fleet) that would be about a 10 to 12 mile commute. We shall see.
