Is that too high? I figured it was fair, that shirt retails for 45.00 and you will pay even more at a show for it. What do you think I should have set as the starter Big D? I'm new at this and could use some pointers

yeah, totally depends on the item.

since i usually only list things i KNOW will sell for a guaranteed minimum amount, i start with a very low opening bid. that gets more people bidding, and once they're bidding, they're emotionally tied to the auction, which keeps them bidding.

if i'm not sure how an item will sell, i'll usually start low but put in a reserve. only occasionally do i start with a high opening bid.

be sure to search ebay's completed auctions for a sense of what your item might go for. they've recently shortened the window on how far back you can look for free; i think it's a week or 10 days of completed auctions. you can see more, but you have to pay. they've got a million upsells these days.
