back from my fathers funeral
It was a nice service and some of my friends came out to it which was really nice. Before I left my place to goto my aunt and uncles to stay the night
(the funeral was in my dads home town which is about an hour from where I live) I thought I would be emotionally fine but that wasnt the case. There
is no way to prepare for something like this but having friends and loved one there helped to make it alittle easier. We had a lunch-in at the Elks
club after and I got to chat with some old relatives who I hadnt seen in over 15 years. Alot of people who taked to my dad told me how proud he said
he was of me and that really hurt because I just wish he could have said that to me once in my life instead of having to hear it second hand. Not much
I can do about that now though. Im just glad I got down to FL when I did so I could see him before he died. Im lucky to have been able to tell him I
loved him during our last phone conversation. I guess I couldnt really ask for more.

Im really sorry that you had to go through all that, I kind of know what youre feeling because of all that just happened with my grandfather, but his
funeral isnt actually going to be until May. He was cremated, but he wanted a full military funeral (flag, guns, bugel etc.) because he was in the
Navy and they wont have it all set up until May. Im sure it will be really hard plus it will drag me back into the mindset that Im in now having him
just pass away.
Take care of yourself and let me know if theres anything I can do.

thank you guys. Honus, Im sorry you lost your grandfather. It seems a few people on here have lost a loved one recently. Its not something easy to go
through. I thought I had prepared myself for the funeral but the calling hours and funeral were very hard on me. I start thinking of things I missed
out on with my father but I have to remember the good times and not to think of the "what if's". If you need someone to talk to im here for you. You
have all been so kind to me in my situation and I know how much it helps when people reachout to help others who are going through tough times. I wish
there was something more I could do, say to help ease the pain but the best thing to do is be around loved ones and take care of yourself.

i don't do well with viewings/funerals/internments/etc.
too much time to think.
If I fail math, there goes my chance at a good job and a happy life full of hard work.

I've participated in quite a few Burial at seas/Military funerals, although it is somber it is something to see. I can definitely speak for most all
in uniform when I say, we take that particular duty VERY seriously. Keep yer chin up big guy.
Luca, I am very sorry for your loss bro, I am very close with my old man and dread this moment when it comes. Like I said before, it's great that you
were able to spend the quality time with him and now you will carry those memories with you for the rest of your days. I know you will cherish it.

I'm the same way... I can't stand hospitals either (and sometimes funerals are the next step after a hospital). Oddly I guess my family shares the
sentiment, my father was the only member of my family to have an actual funeral... not my grandparents, aunts & uncles, nobody.
