Will you show up for this? Serious, please read...
I've asked about this before but now things are an inch away from being cemented. Here's the deal:
We are looking to book a show at the Sterling Hotel on May5th with NYHC legends Underdog, The Arsons (ex-Token Entry/Grey Area), Back To Back,
Bookburner and a couple of supporters. The issue is that it is going to cost the promoter quite a bit of money for the bands as well as the overhead
for the club. What it will break down to, is for a show to cost $10 a person, we will need at least 200 people to show up if we do it in the smaller
room (that now has a real stage/sound/etc) or more than 300 if we do it in the main room. This is where we really need you to give us some real
input.
1) Will you come out to this show? Be honest, if you know you will definatley come out or not.
2) Who would you like to see added to the lineup that would convince you to go if you are on the fence about it? Remember that we could only book
someone who won't be asking for much money since we've already got a huge overhead as it is and do NOT want to raise the ticket price.
3) We want to build a real hardcore/punk/metal/etc scene at this venue. Croc Rock (nevermind if you like the place or not) is too "big" to hold shows
that don't cater to huge crowds, so they wouldn't touch these shows. Coming to this Underdog show would be step one in establishing the Sterling as a
dependable venue for more underground shows. With that in mind, who would you like ot see play there in the future?
4) How many people do you think would come with you if you did decide to come out?
5) If you have any other questions, comments, suggestions, etc, please contact us by email: backtobacklvhc@hotmail.com or on myspace: CLICK HERE FOR LINK
Feel free to answer on this thread, but please also send us a message or email, as well. This isn't to get you to check us out, btw, it's so we can
start to really crunch numbers and make sure this is a worthwhile venture and that if it happens it will be what people want to see. We want to have
a place in the Lehigh Valley that can have a supportive, strong scene, so the more we know from all of you, the better we can do to accomplish our
goals. Thanks.

1) No. Being old and having kids severly limits the number shows I attend every year.
I think it's great you're soliciting this feedback, and looking for a new, reliable venue in your area, but I have to ask... if The Sterling Hotel
comes with such overhead, is it really worth trying to establish it a new venue for the hardcore scene?
If I fail math, there goes my chance at a good job and a happy life full of hard work.

That's the place. It's off of W. Hamilton St in Allentown. I don't know exactly why it's listed under Crown PLaza...
As for the overhead issue, it's something we are trying to work with the promoter about. Right now he asks for a lot to book the main room, but part
of that is because he doesn't really have a grasp on the potential of making this a regular spot for shows of this nature. He charges a lot partly
due to promoters in the past doing a terrrible job and costing him more money to have the place open than the shows made by the end of the night.
The bottom line is that it IS a great place for shows. The security that work there are cool, the atmosphere is friendly, it's all ages, etc. We
just need to prove that there it is worthwhile to continue booking hXc, punk, etc at the venue.

More than likely, I'd go. I'd like to see Underdog.
My reccomendation to you is this... Book the smaller room no matter how many people swear they'll go. Get a few solid shows there, and once you get
bands that have a guaranteed larger draw, you can discuss getting the larger room.
As for bands to add. I'd like to see Barricade. Plus any local area heroes. Strength for a reason would be another good one, wisdom in chains, bands
like that. Strong local draws.
Hope that helps.

excellent suggestions, michael. selling out a venue (even if it is a smaller room) pleases the promoter and builds a quality reputation among the
kids.

Yeah, we are leaning towards the smaller room, anyway. It cuts a lot of the overhead out of the picture and that's the main concern. There are some
good shows being booked there already, so hopefully by the time this show happens, there will be a lot of faces coming out that haven't been there at
this point.
WIC, SFAR, Barricade... all bands we love and would very much like to have on the bill. Of course, we have to talk $$$ and that is generaly the
biggest issue. Rest assured, however, that the support acts will be damn good! We were also considering Vision.

All three of those band mentioned I know would be good and the dollars I'm sure would be reasonable. Espeically with WIC having cancelled the tour in
europe due to Lou (SOIA) having an injured back. They have dates available.
I'm not saying to not try, but I have strong doubts on Vision doing it. Just letting you know. But if you can pull it off, God bless you.

Vision's a long shot, I know. I know Dave so it's not out of the realm, but it's still tough. I'd LOVE to have WIC on this... They are already
playing with Underdog in NY (Syracuse?), so they might be even more willing to do it. We'll see.
