First album is immortal greatness. Second...not so much...
The main problem I have with this band is their gimmic is supposed to be 'American' Oi, yet all the lads and hoolie shit is over the top, Choke
couldn't be any more obvious in their marketing of the newer album to the Dropkick Murphys football scarf crowd if he tried. If it was 'American' OI,
he should have anthems to Baseball.

Second wasn't bad, but the first is insanely good. I can see where Jason is coming from in regards to the lyrics.

i just kinda figured it was sort of an inside joke sort of as oppossed to trying to gain any new fans cuz there's only a certain section of people who
would dig a band like that in the first place

I mean, I love the older Brit Oi, I just think the blatant 'having a laugh with my mates and a pint at me pub' mentality of most post Stormwatch
American Oi is rediculous. For the most part Oi is supposedly centered around class/national pride and the bands worship another culture?
I really can't think of too many bands in the past 10 years that don't fall inot that category outside of the Jersey Headache crowd.

I think at one point in time I made fun of the football themes on the new album in a B9 thread about the album and Choke actually replied... (haha how
do I make all these guys mad!? I must have a powerfull opinion) and went into some rant about how I should go listen to Youth of Today then and some
other non sensical out of touch commentary about me being a vegan.
Haha, YOT? Vegan?
On a positive note...I hear Wretched Ones are working on a new album.

I dig 'em. And I like the second album too, not as much as the first, but I take 'em both for what they are and from what I understand, there were
some new people who had a much bigger push on the new one than even Choke did. I'm sure Honus will drop in here soon and lay down some knowledge for
us all.

Second record isn't so good to me, but Shaved For Battle rules and his actually pretty damned hilarious. I think it's definitely an inside joke kind
of thing.

Why the change, to appeal to non-Americans?

Nah... the cover art was changed because Stars & Stripes was never ment to be anything specific. The first record focuses on 'American Oi', but mean
thats all they should or planned on being/singing about. The guys in the band are really into soccer and liked the tongue in cheek jokes about pubs
etc. The flag was changed to the sheet just because the record was never ment to be a sequal to 'Shaved for Battle'

And to be honet that cover would have made them the posterboy band for American racist skins everywhere. Even though they do not connect with them.
I have never heard this band and will ahve to check this out. Why has no one ever mentioned them before? Esp Honus?

You have got to admit that the original artwork is very powerful though. It could be used as a point of view against anyone against our country. That
is pretty intense.

I guess most people dont talk about Stars and Stripes that often because they are an almost completly inactive band. I think they have only played 4-5
shows in the history of the band which goes back probably 15+ years.
Both records are good.... the first one "Shaved for Battle" which was originally on Patriot Records (Chokes lable) was rereleased by Taang! and is
easy to find. The second one "One Man Army" is a little tough to find because it was only released in Europe by IScream records, but with a little
effort (or eBay) you should be able to find it.
Actually... I THINK that I put one of the Stars & Stripes songs on the comp I made for the Christmas exchange. Its one of the silly songs off of the
second record. The song is called "Lets Party"

I just put your cd back in. Hell ya. Good stuff. What did I say about this song 3 months ago? I got to find your christams thread. Its a good
recording too.
